DISPATCHER/CORRECTIONS OFFICER Everyone, If you have thought about applying for this position or want more information about it please let me know. I hear most people are concerned about the corrections side of the job. Let me tell you, you have very limited contact with inmates and most of the contact is done by the Police Officers. If you or a friend are considering this position please let me know and I’ll give you a tour of the Police Department. I’ll also explain the job to you along with showing how limited your contact with inmates really is. With the new updated jail facilities push button controls, 90% of the contact is through a door, bulletproof glass or a wall with a small opening. On Friday September 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm, The Petersburg Police Department will host an Open House for interested applicants of the Dispatcher/Corrections Officer position. I encourage you to come see what this position entails. Starting wage is $18.80 per hr increasing to $20.89 per hr after one year of employment. Thanks for your consideration, James Kerr Chief of Police 907-772-3838 Click the link below to apply.

Law Enforcement would like to Congratulate the Petersburg Fire Department & EMS on their VICTORY in the Guns & Hoses event. A great time was had by all. Nothing like a good friendly rivalry between departments. For the next Guns & Hoses Event, what does everyone think about Guns & Hoses teaming up and taking on the Petersburg Vikings in a fundraising basketball game. All proceeds would go to the Petersburg Vikings Basketball program. Today we remember and honor Trooper Jim Moen on the 17th anniversary of his End of Watch. The P/V Moen, which is based here in Petersburg was named in his honor. Thank you for your service and sacrifice Jim, it is not forgotten.
