Another example of the sacrifices of law enforcement personnel in order to protect the public. They are America's heroes. "Ron was a hardworking, dedicated sheriff's sergeant, he was totally committed. He gave his all. And tonight, as I told his wife, he died a hero because he went, he went in to save lives, to save other people's lives," [Ventura County Sheriff Geoff] Dean said.

“During his time as U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions has been the standard-bearer for upholding the rule of law and fighting every day to make America safer. He has been a vital partner to state attorneys general, and to me personally, in dealing with violent crime and in strengthening our efforts to combat America’s opioid crisis. While his style was to work quietly behind the scenes, he made a powerful positive difference in rebuilding the confidence of prosecutors and law enforcement personnel across the nation—not just as U.S. Attorney General, but also as U.S. Senator and Alabama Attorney General. My staff and I will greatly miss Jeff’s leadership at the Department of Justice and we wish him all the best.” - AG Steve Marshall

As Attorney General, I have filed a notice with the U.S. Supreme Court asking it to hear Alabama’s defense of State law banning dismemberment abortions. Alabama's law against dismemberment abortion is currently under legal challenge. As reports, ‘A dismemberment abortion is performed on a nearly fully-formed, living unborn baby in the second trimester. It is a barbaric and dangerous procedure in which the unborn baby is ripped apart in the womb and pulled out in pieces while his/her heart is still beating.’

My office was pleased to partner with US Attorney Jay Town of the Northern District of Alabama, Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steven Anderson, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy, BATFE Special Agent in Charge Marcus Watson, and Tuscaloosa County District Attorney Hays Webb in support of an ongoing operation to take violent criminals off our streets. Alabama Chief Deputy Attorney General Clay Crenshaw joined the Tuscaloosa presser today announcing the round up of 36 defendants, the majority of which have at least 3 prior felony convictions. Since January, over 250 violent felons have been taken into custody statewide through our federal, state, local law enforcement partnership against violent crime.

As young trick-or-treaters haunt your neighborhood streets tonight, please slow down and drive carefully. Let's all have a safe Halloween!!

“This was a tragic case in which a young mother and her unborn child were brutally murdered with her minor age children nearby.
