It’s that time of year again! Our friends at the Paragould Fire Department would likely remind you to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors when you roll your clocks back. It’s an easy way to keep up with maintenance on those important, potentially life-saving, devices.
A big THANK YOU to the Children's Homes for lunch yesterday. The food and the visit were both wonderful.
***Phone lines back in service*** The lines for both the police department and AMMC Ambulance are repaired and back in service. Here’s a photo of what caused the outage. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
UPDATE: Phone lines are back in service ***EMERGENT MESSAGE*** The phone lines for the Paragould Police Department and AMMC Ambulance Service are currently down. Crews are enroute to correct the issue. Should you have an emergency, dial 9-1-1 for assistance. We will update when the phone lines are back in service.
For the second year, the Paragould Police Department will be participating in “No Shave November”. Officers that want to participate are required to donate $20 for the month, and may grow a beard or goatee which are normally against department policy. At the end of the month, the police department will be donating the collected “entry fees” to a local charity. We would like some suggestions as to what local charities you would like considered for this donation. Please comment below with your ideas!
From Chief of Police Todd Stovall: We are receiving inquiries in reference to Halloween being moved due to the weather forecast. We will NOT be moving Halloween from its normal date of Wednesday. We are aware that other cities have moved the observance of Halloween to another date, however, the city council must approve that change. Due to the timing of the forecast, this falls between their scheduled meetings and could not be heard. Please pass this along as needed. Once again, thanks for being such a great community and if we can be of assistance, please feel free to contact us. Todd
The AT&T issue posted about previously has been corrected. All 870-586-XXXX numbers should be operating normally now and able to dial 9-1-1 for emergencies.
**Update at 1:27 am** This issue has been corrected and lines are operating normally again. We have been advised by AT&T that landline phone numbers beginning with 870-586-XXXX are unable to call 9-1-1 at this time. AT&T advised that they do not have an estimated time for having the issue resolved. As of now, cell phone numbers with that prefix are working normally. This issue will mostly affect residents north of the city of Paragould in areas such as Oak Grove, Lafe, Beech Grove, etc. Should you live in those areas, have no cellular service, and need assistance (Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement), call the Paragould Police Department at 870-236-7621 and request to speak to dispatch immediately. The appropriate agency will then be dispatched to assist you. We will post a message when the issue has been resolved.
Congratulations to the Greene County Rescue Squad on their 35 years of volunteer service to the citizens of Greene County!

Did you know if you call for medical help for yourself, or someone else, due to an overdose, you can't be charged with possession?
