Entergy update: they have fixed the main circuit which restored power to the majority of the city. There are still a few without power and the technicians said that they are having to go back to each individual outage to fix it. No ETA as to when it may be restored for the rest of us. The jail is still running on generator, so we are still without power as well. We will continue to keep everyone updated. But once again, if you are one of the few still without power and have no where to go, please dont hesitate to come sit in our lobby and get cooled down.

Update: power has been restored to most of clarendon. Some are still without power, but we have no further info as to an eta of it being restored.

Attention monroe county residents: the latest update from entergy says power isnt expected to be restored until 6 pm tomorrow. Heat index values today are expected to reach between 105 and 110. If anyone needs a place to get out of the heat, the lobby here at the sheriff's department/jail is open to the public if you need to cool off. Please stay safe in this excessive heat, and if you need any assistance dont hesitate to call the sheriff's department direct or 911.

Attention Monroe county residents: As of 7-18-18 we are under a burn ban until further notice. Please share.

ATTENTION: We are aware of the threat that has been made against "chs" we are actively investigating this matter but it is unfounded at this time. Everything that we have found shows that the threat originated in new mexico several days ago against another "chs" high school . At this time there is no need for alarm at all and rest assure that we will keep everyone updated..
