We appreciate Superintendent Matt Wright and his faculty for serving us pizza before the Marked Tree vs. EPC game last night. The meal and thank you notes signed by the kids meant so much to each of us.

Attention Marked Tree Residents: Please be assured that we are working closely with the current officers at the Marked Tree Police Department to ensure public safety remains a top priority. *****Update***** The shooting suspect is in custody. At approximately 12:30 pm, he turned himself in to law enforcement. Sheriff Kevin Molder On Saturday, September 29, 2018 at approximately 6:00 pm, Poinsett County Dispatch received a 911 call of a shooting in front of Delta Point Apartments in Marked Tree. Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, Trumann Police Department, Arkansas State Police, Marked Tree Police Department, Tyronza Police Department, and Lepanto Police Department responded to the scene. Terry Wofford, 18, of Marked Tree was shot multiple times. He was transported to the hospital prior to law enforcement arriving on the scene. He is currently stable in ICU. We have obtained an arrest warrant on a 16 year old male who is responsible for the shooting. Local and surrounding law enforcement are currently looking for him. This is an active investigation. The scam is calling individuals and telling them to call our phone number. We do not call individuals using automated messages asking them to call us. If we need to speak to someone we will call them directly.

Although Detective William Holmes has not officially left the sheriff’s office, I would like to say that I appreciate his commitment to our department and our profession through the years. He has represented us honorably and I’m sure he will continue to do that in the future. Although we are saddened that he is leaving, we are proud of him and wish him the best of luck in the future.
