The City of Dardanelle had a visitor, on September 7th, 2018. The pictured is a small Black Bear that visited the City of Dardanelle Saturday. He made his way into town and was first spotted in the area of Cedar Street where a 911 caller made the Dardanelle Police Department aware of his presence in the city. Officers responded and found the bear who subsequently climbed a tree and took a break, while officers D. Judkins and B. Harris kept their eyes on him. While he was resting Animal Control, Game and Fish, and Sgt. Kisor arrived. Once the bear left the tree he headed to the river where he was last seen. The Dardanelle Police Department would like to thank: Dardanelle Animal Control, Game and Fish, and Yell County Mounted Patrol with helping to contain the animal and guide him safely out of the city. If you see a bear in the city: Find safety and call 911, secure pets in a safe place away from the bear, and keep your eyes on the bear from a safe secure location until officers arrive. Do not attempt to aggravate or make contact with a bear in any way.

News Release: Photo #1 The Dardanelle Police released today the arrest of a Allen Joe Taylor W/M, DOB 03/27/89, last known address: 105 Long Street Dardanelle, AR, after receiving a report of a stolen Honda Mo-pad from a residence in Dardanelle. Taylor was taken in custody Saturday afternoon in possession of the stolen moped. Investigators testified in a Probable Cause Bond hearing before Circuit Court Judge Jerry Don Ramey that Taylor was observed riding a moped similar to the one reported stolen., however the moped was a different color. Investigators told the court upon a closer review of the moped officer found a serial number that matched the reported stolen moped to the moped in possession of Taylor. Investigators said during questioning of Taylor told them he had found the moped in a ditch and took it home and repainted along with changing out the ignition switch. Taylor also told investigators his reason for taking the moped was to sale or exchange the moped for drugs. Judge Ramey set a bond of $10,000.00 cash or commercial with a first appearance court date of May 10th, 2018 in the Dardanelle Courthouse. Photo # 2: Dardanelle Police arrested a Laquay .M Kindle, B/M, last known address; Russellville, AR. after receiving a report that a male was observed setting in a carport and going through what appeared to be a ladies purse. When officers arrived 702 N. 5th. Street they found Kindle standing in the carport, offices also found 2 ladies purses in the same area that Kindle was standing both purses had the contents removed with some of the contents laying on the floor and after a search of Kindle some of the contents in possession of Kindle. Kindle was taken into custody, later it was discovered that one of the purses was taken from an unlocked vehicle located within the same block radius that Kindle was taken into custody. Investigators testified before District Court Judge Carol Collins during a probable cause hearing that the homeowner at 702 N. 5th Street did not know Kindle and he was not living at the residence. Investigators told the Judge Collins that when Kindle was taken into custody he did some credit/debit cards in his pocket that were tied to the purse being taken from the vehicle at a residence located on Vine Street which joins the N. 5th Street. The vehicle was parked underneath the residence located approximately two houses away from the 702 address. Judge Collins ruled that there was enough probable cause to hold kindle in custody and set a bond of $15,000.00, cash or commercial with a first court appearance date in Circuit Court for May 10., 2018. Kindle who is also on probation/parole will be facing a hearing with the state.
