SCPD welcomes new officers to the force. Congratulations to officers Angel Ortega and Jordan Kitcheyan. ****update**** Suspect Russell has been apprehended without incident by SCPD. The advisory for the 7 Mile District has been lifted. Thank you for your patience as understanding. If you suspect or see criminal activity on and off social media, please contact SCPD @ (928) 476-2311.

****Attention**** ****Residents of 7 Mile**** Suspect Aaron Russell from airport 79 posted pictures of 7.62 bullets on Facebook and stated he is going to “shut down airport 79 and 7 mile tonight”. SCPD is currently searching for Russell, but suspect is still at large. Russell is said to be wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and black pants. Russell is approximately 5'8" and described as skinny. Several people say he commonly carries a rifle with him. SCPD is requesting all residents to stay in doors and if you should have any information please contact SCPD at (928) 475-2311 or 911.

****UPDATE**** Highway 70 is now open. SCPD would like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. Please drive with care and don’t drink and drive.

****Attention**** SCPD is currently investigating a vehicle accident on Highway 70. Highway 70 will be closed at Route 6 junction in Cutter Az and at Route 170 junction (Bashas) in Peridot Az. Please use Route 6 as the alternate route until further notice.

UPDATE: THE INMATE HAS BEEN CAPTURED ATTENTION: An AZ DOC inmate escaped from the San Jose prison (south of Safford) yesterday (12/6/17) and may be in the Thatcher area. The Graham County Sheriff’s Office will be delivering flyers in the Bylas area with more information. If you see or have any information regarding this inmate, please immediately contact 911 or SCPD (928) 475-2311. Subject is described as a Black Male, 5’9” and 150lbs.

****Announcement**** SCPD is currently searching for an inmate who escaped custody from the Chandler, AZ area. Inmate is identified as Alex Goseyun from Bylas, AZ. Goseyun is a 21-year-old male, approximately 5’10” & 170 Ibs. Reward offered for information leading to Goseyun’s arrest. Contact 928-475-2311 with information.

*****Announcement***** A San Carlos School District employee reported seeing on Facebook a person coming to the San Carlos Secondary School with a gun.. SCPD Officers were at the school for an unrelated incident and immediately placed the entire school on lockdown while they searched for a firearm.. no firearm was located. Also reports of a robbery and or gunman at Bashas was cleared with no further findings. These incidents were third party reporting.

The San Carlos Apache Police Department will be hosting a "Dump the Drugs" event this Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10 am-2 pm at the San Carlos Police Department, located on Medicine Way Drive in Peridot, Arizona. If you have prescription medication (pills) that are old or not being used, please feel free to bring them to the police department and "DUMP" them into our collection box. A police officer will be at the collection site to answer questions and assist those that want to rid their prescription pills. Illegal use and/or abuse of prescription pills is dangerous and we are reaching out to the communties to help us in combatting and deterring this epedimic usage that can result in serious health related problems. If you know of anyone who is selling or abusing prescription drugs, please call (928) 475-8477 (475-TIPS). You can remain anonymous.

*****Update***** The individual involved in the car accident between Peridot and Bylas has been located. No injuries were reported. SCPD would like to thank all who assisted.

*****UPDATE***** SCPD as set up a Command Post on Highway 70 at approximately mile post 281.5. We along with assisting agencies are still in search of the driver. **********ATTENTION************** SCPD is asking for the public's help on locating 32-year old Maurice Anderson of Peridot, AZ. At 7:13 p.m. this evening (Monday October 16, 2017), a single vehicle crash was reported to the SCPD/EMS dispatch center between Peridot and Bylas, which Maurice was involved in. No one was located at or around the crash scene and it was made known to officers that he was traveling east bound towards Bylas. Please share and if anyone knows his whereabouts, please contact SCPD dispatch at (928) 475-2311.

*********UPDATE************ Highway 70 is open to one lane and traffic flow is slow so using the alternate route is still recommended. We expect to have Highway 70 fully opened in an hour. Thank you for the understanding and patience.

********UPDATE********* October 14, 2017 4:04pm Highway 70 is closed due to a motor vehicle crash near Bucket Mountain (milepost 267) Please use Indian Route 6 as an alternate route until further notice. Please update will be provided soon on when the Highway will be re-opened.
