Earlier this week our new Animal Control Officers Anderson and Mercado rescued their first dog. The dog "Josie" had her head stuck in the block wall. They were able to remove Josie who is safe and resting at home. Great job! #PuppyProtectors #APDCares #ACO

*Update on threats at La Joya High School* On 10/15/2018 at about 6:00 p.m., Avondale Detectives continued to follow up on information gathered in reference the threats call for service at La Joya High School, located near S Avondale Blvd & W Whyman Ave. The investigation and evidence led to the arrest of a juvenile male that is a student of La Joya High School. No evidence was found that the threat was going to be carried out as the juvenile admitted to making the threat in order to cancel school. There are no further suspects believed to be involved at this time and the school has resumed normal business.

Last Friday Neighborhood Resource Officer Emmett attended "Lunch with Blue" at First Baptist Church Garden Lakes. Thanks for the invite, it was a great way to spend Fall Break! #APDCares

***La Joya High School Lockdown Update*** Early this morning information was obtained regarding threats to the school via social media. During the course of the investigation no weapons or firearms were located on campus. The investigation is still ongoing.

Lockdown has been lifted. Kids have been released.

**Lockdown Update** We are waiting for school transportation to arrive. School will be released early today.

We are currently conducting an investigation at La Joya High School. The school is currently on lockdown for precaution. At this time we ask that you please avoid coming to the school. We will be posting updates as more information becomes available.

Last Friday evening, the police department participated in First Responder Appreciation Night at the Westview HS football game. The department was presented with a signed Westview HS football helmet and a photo of the team.

This week we will have our main Police Department building fully lit up purple in support of Domestic Violence victims and survivors.
