EDSO Explorers attended the Riverside Police Competition over the weekend. They participated in many different scenarios to include officer down, active shooter, CSI, domestic violence and physical fitness. They received 1st Place in Officer Down, 1st Place in CSI, 3rd Place in Active Shooter, 3rd Place in male Physical Fitness and 2nd Place overall. Congratulations Explorers!!!!

*****SOLD OUT******The El Dorado County Sheriff Explorer Post 457 is hosting their Annual Spaghetti Feed coming this October 20, 2018. This is their only fundraiser for the year. All funds will help support the Explorers in competitions, training and supply them with equipment. If you are interested in attending, please contact us and we will get you tickets. We are also looking for sponsorships for anyone that is interested. Thank you for supporting Post 457!!!!

EDSO Explorers honored fallen Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Mark Stasyuk with a morale run through the community in his name.

Explorers helped out today at the 15th Annual Posse Picnic. A big Thank you to the Posse for hosting such a wonderful event for EDSO families.

Explorers participated in the SAREX training over the weekend which was hosted by the search and rescue team. They received hands on training in land navigation, survival skills, medical aid and assisted with the event.

The Explorers had an intensive tactical training day today which included active shooter response, building clearing, and shield tactics.

Congratulations to our Explorers that completed the 2018 CHP Explorer Academy!!! For the last week they participated in a high intensity law enforcement explorer academy which included living in the dorms on grounds and experiencing the basics of law enforcement. Our Explorer Post had the honors of leading in the graduating class.

Explorer Post 457 assisted the CSD with the Cameron Park Spectacular event tonight.

Explorers helped with the El Dorado County Fair VIP BBQ. Fair opens tomorrow! “There’s Magic In The Air!!”

Explorers are prepped and ready for the El Dorado County Fair! Come out and say hello to them at their booth this Thursday through Sunday at the fairgrounds!!

Explorer Post 457 helped work the Tahoe NRA Dinner. They assisted with games, selling tickets, the silent auction and clean up. A big thank you to the NRA for all the support they give to our program!!

Tonight was Sergeant Laura Russell’s last meeting. She is joining the military this summer. We are very excited for her new chapter. Good Luck Laura!!

Tonight was Captain Grace Hunter’s last Explorer meeting. She will be headed off to college in Santa Cruz this fall. We are excited for her new adventure and wish her the best!!

Explorers received training tonight from Circinus LEO on the advancements in phone tracking and cutting edge technology for public safety.

Explorers helped at the “Farm to Pork” event for the Union Mine High School FFA program. They helped set up, serve and clean up. It was a great event!!!

The post recently hosted their annual Regional Training Day. Eight posts from the greater Sacramento region sent approximately 100 Explorers to participate in a full day of training which included SWAT tactics, patrol functions, first aid, arrest control, and physical training. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!

Explorer Post 457 just recently had a training on gps and land navigation. Today they put their skills to work. For a team building/training event, the advisors chose 6 locations, marked the location and hung a prize in the tree. Post members were split into 4 teams and used the GPS unit and maps to find the locations. Afterwards advisors and parents helped organize a potluck bbq, swimming and made homemade ice cream.

Congratulations to this group of Explorers!! They are all graduating from high school this next week and each one of them is planning to go work at the El Dorado County Jail as Correctional Officers. We are very proud of these explorers and wish them the best on their new adventure!!!
