Fortuna Police Department Office Supervisor Robin Paul was honored today at the Fortuna Kiwanis Club Business Women’s Luncheon as the 2018 Woman of Distinction. Robin is very deserving of this recognition. We are proud to have Robin as a part of the Fortuna Police Department family and we are very happy for her. Congratulations Robin.

Robbery Suspect Arrested - On October 8th 2018 at about 2023 hours officers with the Fortuna Police Department responded to the report of an armed robbery at a business located on the 700 block of South Fortuna Blvd.

Department Receives Life-Saving Location Data from Apple Phones for 9-1-1 Calls - The Fortuna Police Department is now receiving fast and accurate device location data for 9-1-1 calls from iPhones with iOS 12 via the RapidSOS NG911 Clearinghouse.

Today is Field Training Officer Evan Beechel’s last shift with Fortuna Police Department. Officer Beechel is taking the next step in his Law Enforcement career with the Arcata Police Department. During Officer Beechel’s time with the Fortuna Police Department he worked as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer. Officer Beechel will be greatly missed and we are grateful for his nearly four years of service.

Today at 1118 hours Pacific Time, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued the first ever test of a new Presidential Alert to all cell phones in the country simultaneously. This was a test of a new nationwide warning system that a president could use in case of an armed attack by another country, a cyberattack, or a widespread natural disaster.

Wireless Emergency Alert Reminder: A tone will sound at 11:18 am, similar to that of an Amber Alert and the subject of the alert will read: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

Fortuna Police Officers Apprehend Wanted Sex Offender - On August 28, 2018 at about 9:00 PM, The Fortuna Police Department received a citizen’s tip that Pulido Segura, age 34 of Fortuna, who was sought on several felony charges, was at a residence on Rohner Street.
