Officer Sergio Machado was honored last week during a ceremonial badge pinning after successfully completing his 18-month probationary period. Although an Officer is field ready and sent to a Patrol Team on their own after training, completing probation is a milestone in their career. Officer Machado graduated from the LASD Academy Class #419 as the Honor Cadet in March 2017. Prior to coming to APD, Sergio served as a US Army Ranger from 1997 - 2008, had been promoted in the Army to Staff Sergeant, served 3 tours in Iraq, twice as a Sniper Team Leader, and was awarded both the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal for Valor. Sergio is pictured with Chief Bob Guthrie and Captain Larry Goodman. Congratulations Officer Machado!
