Last night, graveyard patrol officer arrested several subjects for narcotics violations during a pedestrian stop. During this arrest graveyard patrol officers learned the subjects arrested were connected to a room at one of our local motels. In addition, officers also discovered that an outstanding possibly armed subject was still in the area near or at the motel. The subject with the gun was not located at the time but believed to be in the area. Graveyard officers passed the information to dayshift officers who conducted a surveillance of the area. At 8:15 dispatch received a call of suspicious activity at the laundrymat located at Ohio Ave / Long Beach Blvd. Witnesses reported seeing two Male subjects, one with his hands up. #SoGate Officers contacted witnesses inside the location and confirmed one of the subjects involved was seen armed with a gun. Dayshift patrol officers conducting surveillance, observed a subject matching the description of the earlier armed subject at a local motel. The subject entered a taxi cab. Officers were able to detain the subject. When the subject was detained, officers located a 45 caliber firearm, illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and various items of identity theft. Great job by our patrol officers. This is the type of proactive work that keeps our community safe.

Happy Father's Day from the men and women from South Gate Police Departemnt.
