Cypress PD is happy to report that Denni and Lincoln is now clear of all the debris from the commercial truck spill. We are also excited to share a story of a Cypress Resident, Cody, who came out and helped with the clean up. While assisting Cypress maintenance crews, Cody’s broom broke. Thankful for the assistance and hard work on this hot day, CYPD’s Officer Paul made a quick stop at Home Depot to get Cody a new broom!! #Cypressrocks #thankyoucody #weloveourcity

Commuters, please be advised a dump truck had a spill of gravel on Denni Street between Lincoln Avenue and Orange Avenue. Public Works is working diligently to get the road cleared but estimated time of clean up is 1-2 hours. Traffic will be congested during this time and motorists should avoid the area. The Cypress Police Department would like to remind everyone that the speed limit in residential areas and school zones is 25 miles per hour. Please be courteous of residents while dropping off or picking up your students in neighborhoods surrounding your school. Don’t forget: It's Halloween and many children will be out, even during daylight hours. Be careful driving around our schools and neighborhoods due to the increased foot traffic. And don't drive like a zombie while kids are trick-or-treating tonight!

Today the Cypress Police Department share heavy hearts as our thoughts and prayers are with those family’s and the department involved with the active shooter yesterday in Pittsburgh. As you are likely already aware, a gunman attacked a synagogue in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania yesterday on 10-27-18. Eleven people were killed and six additional people were wounded, including four police officers. The gunman was taken into custody. In honor of the lives lost, Cypress Police Department and City Hall have lowered our flags to half-staff.

***ATTENTION CYPRESS*** Today, the City of Cypress will be taking place in the test of the Orange County mass emergency alert system, commonly known as AlertOC. AlertOC is a county-wide emergency alert system that Cypress jointly-utilizes to notify residents of critical information which request immediate action in the event of a local emergency. This system will only be used in emergency situations such as immediate or eminent evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, and natural/human-induced disasters that have an effect on the well-being of our city and/or surrounding areas. Today, Orange County residents will receive two test emergency alerts to their mobile device, one from the Federal Government testing the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system – listed as a “Presidential Alert”; and the second alert will be sent to those who have opted into the AlertOC system. A majority of all mobile devices will receive the federal WEA message; however, you will only receive the AlertOC message if you have opted into the system at Sign-up at

Kudos to a Cypress resident for his keen observations and report of a suspicious vehicle near his home last week. Officers located the vehicle and ultimately arrested two subjects for possession of stolen property. The property was successfully returned to its rightful owner. Residents are reminded to report suspicious activity and describe specifically what is observed, including: *Who or what you saw; *When you saw it; *Where it occurred; and *Why it's suspicious. As always, if there is an emergency, call 9-1-1. Absent an emergency, please use our non-emergency number: 714-229-6600
