Recently, Officer Hebron & K9 Officer Whitney went to Foote School in New Haven to meet with students. We talked with & encouraged the kids to make good decisions, be strong, work hard in school & listen to their parents/teachers. Whitney was a huge hit. All the kids got to hang out with her & learned about the training & duties of an explosives sniffing K9.

The YPD & NH FBI teamed up for the 3rd Future Law Enforcement Youth Academy (FLEYA). This is a week-long, overnight law enforcement & legal training camp for selected CT youth.This gives CT high school age students an inside look at today's FBI while also being exposed to various local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and practices. #yalepd #FLEYA #fbi #communitypolicing

Yale Public Safety teamed up with NHPD during a brown bag lunch session on Wednesday at 25 Science Park in New Haven. Community policing advances community wellness, but we cannot be excellent without the participation of our community! Thank you to the team at 25 Science Park!

YPD Chief Ronnell Higgins & several other Chiefs from around the state, recently participated in the CT Special Olympics providing support, mentoring and leadership. Thanks to all who attended & helped out! #specialolympics.

STREET SWEEPING 7/9 & 7/10. The NH Dept of Public Works will be street sweeping in the East Rock & Cedar Hillneighborhoods. Since this is a tag and tow route, please pay attention to the paper signs that are posted each day to remind residents about not parking in the path of the sweepers.

YPD Officer T. Pollock participated in the Criminal Justice Camp held at Albertus Magnus College. This camp organized by the CT State Police and including different branches of law enforcement introduced high school students to different careers in that field.

Last month the YPD Honor Guard participated in a fundraiser for the South Central Regional Swat Team in Branford. Members of the SCR Swat team responded & were injured when responding to an emergency in North Haven. The fundraiser was to help those injured in the explosion.

The YPD participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run. Police Dpts across the state carry the torch through their cities & towns, honoring CT Special Olympics athletes & their families. Our team traveled collectively about 50 miles by bike, motorcycle & on foot. Officer’s Funaro, Vaccino & Swiantek rode their bicycles from start to finish. Officer Pollock helped with a motorcycle escort, & Sgt. Wood provided vehicle support for runners & cyclists. Officer’s McGinnis & Cotto ran the 5+ miles through New Haven. THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED.
