The Meriden Police Department would like to welcome our four newest sworn officers to our ranks. Today, June 12, 2018, Officers Patrick McCarthy, Matthew Chiucarello, Maria Case, and Alex Michaud graduated from the State of Connecticut Municipal Police Academy, Class #360. The new probationary officers will report to the Meriden Police Department immediately for two weeks of in-house training and then begin a 400+ hour Field Training Officer Program. Congratulations to our newest officers and best of luck in the years to come.

The Meriden Hall of Fame association was established to honor prominent people who live or have lived in Meriden, who have distinguished themselves in their professional and private lives, and in so doing, have brought honor to the city of Meriden. Hector Cardona Sr. came to Meriden at the age of seven from Puerto Rico. Among several jobs he has held, he proudly served the city of Meriden as a police officer for over 32 years. Please join us in congratulating him for his induction into the Meriden Hall of Fame. We are extraordinarily proud of all that he has given to our agency and this city, well done!

Another quick clip. This short video shows two suspects jumping through the pharmacy window.

Please take a look and let us know if you recognize anyone. This group of four decided to rob a local pharmacy in where some highly potent pain pills were taken. Please forward any information to Det. Fonda at (203) 630-4178, it would be greatly appreciated.

Members of the Meriden Police Department’s Honor Guard and Command Staff attended the 30th police memorial ceremony today at the Police Memorial on Preston Ave, Meriden, CT. Three new names were added onto the memorial this year, bringing the total number of officers killed in the line of duty to 143 for the state of Connecticut. It is important we remember and honor the service and sacrifice of those officers who gave their lives. We must never forget.

This sly little fella was brought into our department today. Yes, it was in a box. Luckily we have some well informed officers who knew enough to transfer our friend to the care of a wildlife rehabilitation specialist who is licensed to care for rabies vector species (RVS). CAUTION: If you ever come across a cute little critter, and you think it needs rescuing, please DO NOT TOUCH OR TAKE. Alert your local authorities. Name ideas?

Just as important as our past, so is our future. Today we swore in two new officers who will start the police academy this Friday. We welcome William White & Michael Giambrone into our ranks.

In preparation of Meriden Police Department’s 150th Anniversary Celebration, Deborah Patterson of The Meriden Historical Society personally donated three photos of Meriden Police Chiefs that she has discovered. The Historical Society’s passion for yesteryear is tremendously appreciated, thank you.

The Meriden Police Department would like to remind all drivers of the importance of clearing off your vehicles before getting on the road. Not only is it the law but your failure to do so could potentially injure or even kill another unsuspecting driver. Please help us keep our community safe this winter and take the time to clear your vehicle of snow and ice before driving on the roads. Thanks and stay safe this Winter season!
