LATEST UPDATE ON THE DOT PAVING ON RT 156 – THURSDAY – 10/25/18- From ELPW and ELPS The DOT’s paving contractor paved the east half (water side) from the Niantic River Bridge to the railroad spur by Methodist St. It is our understanding that they plan on paving the westbound lane tomorrow. Starting on Monday, they will pave one side of the road from the railroad spur to around the Black Point Rd intersection. They may go past that intersection depending on how much production they get. Then on Tuesday, they will go back and pave the other side of the road. If you have any specific questions about the project, feel free to call the DOT garage at 860-443-1518.

Long delays / Road Paving RT156 The asphalt paving project is underway way on route 156 extending between the Niantic River Bridge and Rocky Neck Connector. Today’s work will start at the Bridge and move westward. Please be patient if you must travel through the area but it may be best to just avoid the area. Officers working the traffic detail have a difficult task managing traffic around work crews and equipment so please follow directions and any signage as there will be one way traffic between Black Point Rd and Fairhaven Rd most of the day. The worst time to travel through the area will be this morning during rush hour headed east into Waterford over the bridge, Penn Ave & Main St intersection and Black Point & Main St intersection. Hope St will be used as a detour for Main Street and Fairhaven Rd will be used for West Main St. The days work is expected to conclude by 4pm so evening rush hour should flow smooth.

Paving on Route 156 will begin Monday October 15. Please read the post below for further details.

East Lyme Police assisted New London Police and Waterford Police Monday in apprehending a wanted subject.

We recently had the honor to fly the American Flag at our Department, in honor of Petty Officer First Class John Douangdara. This flag is making its way through New London County at this time and being flown at each of the police departments in the county. From here it will be passed on to the Mohegan Sun Tribal Police Department where it will be flown and then passed along on its journey before eventually being given to his family in his honor.

Society Road open.
