Harrington Police Arrest Harbeson Man for Rape Released Friday November 2, 2018 Harrington-On Friday November 2, 2018 the Harrington Police Department arrested Damon S. Dudley 26, of Harbeson for one count of Rape Fourth Degree. In Early October the Harrington Police Department was contacted about a sex complaint that occurred in the 200 Block of Delaware Ave. in September. During the course of the investigation police determined that on one occasion Mr. Dudley had sexual intercourse with a 15 year old female at the residence on Delaware Ave. Mr. Dudley was staying at the residence with a family member of the victim. On Friday Mr. Dudley turned himself into the Harrington Police Department and was charged with one count of Rape Fourth Degree with Victim Less than 16 years old. He was processed and arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bond pending a Preliminary Hearing in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.

Harrington Man Arrested for 4th Offense DUI Released Monday October 22, 2018 Harrington-On October 20, 2018 the Harrington Police Department arrested Lamontra R. Fountain 39, of Cattail Branch Rd. in Harrington for 4th Offense Driving under the Influence and related charges. While on patrol on South DuPont Hwy. at 7:37 pm, a patrol officer stopped a vehicle, being operated by Mr. Fountain for a traffic violation. The officer then contacted Mr. Fountain and smelled and odor of alcohol. The officer then administered standard field sobriety tests and then took Mr. Fountain into custody. A computer check revealed that Mr. Fountain had three previous DUI convictions. He was transported back to the Harrington Police Department for processing. After submitting to the Intoxilyzer test Mr. Fountain was charged with 4th Offense Driving under the influence, Driving without a valid license and Failure to have Insurance Identification in Possession. Mr. Fountain was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $4,200 secured bond.

Harrington Man Arrested after Fleeing from Harrington Officers Released Friday October 12, 2018 Harrington-On Thursday October 11, 2018 the Harrington Police Department arrested Laquan Johnson 20, of Railroad Ave. in Harrington after he fled from officers in a vehicle. While on patrol Thursday morning at 4:55 am, an officer stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of the Royal-Farms for a traffic violation. As the officer exited his patrol vehicle to contact the driver, later identified as Mr. Johnson, the vehicle accelerated and fled from the officer. The officer then pursued the vehicle through several streets within town and the officer was able to obtain a registration number. Due to safety concerns the officer discontinued the pursuit as the vehicle was traveling northbound on Dorman St. at a high rate of speed and reckless manner. After the pursuit was discontinued the officers observed the vehicle crash on Little Mastens Corner Rd. in the area of Hopkins Cemetery Rd. The officer then arrived at the crash scene and took Mr. Johnson and an adult passenger into custody without further incident. Both Mr. Johnson and the passenger where then transported by ambulance to Milford Memorial Hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the accident. After being treated Mr. Johnson was transported back to the Harrington Police Department for processing. The passenger was released from the hospital also and was not charged with any offenses and he was released. Mr. Johnson was charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Speeding, Driving at Unreasonable Speed, Driving without a License, Aggressive Driving and several other traffic offenses. Mr. Johnson was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on $2,210 unsecured bond.

Two Arrested after Trespassing Complaint Released Friday October 12, 2018 Harrington-On October 9, 2018 the Harrington Police Department arrested Ariana S. Hughes and 23 and Deshawn J. Benson 26, both of Harrington after police responded to a trespassing complaint. While on patrol officers were called to an abandoned residence in the 100 Block of West Milby St. Police arrived and contacted a contractor who arrived at the residence and located Ms. Hughes and Mr. Benson inside of the residence and after being located they both fled from the residence. Police were given a description and while searching the area police located both Ms. Hughes and Mr. Benson and took them both into custody. While speaking to officers Ms. Hughes gave officers a false name and false information. Both were transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. A computer check revealed that Mr. Benson also had an outstanding warrant out of the Milford Police Department for Shoplifting that occurred at the Milford Walmart. Mr. Benson was charged by the Harrington Police Department for Criminal Trespass Third Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Benson was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 on both Harrington and Milford charges and he was released on $2,250 unsecured bond. Ms. Hughes also had two outstanding warrant from the Milford Police Department for Theft and Shoplifting and the Delaware State Police for Theft. While Ms. Hughes was at the Harrington Police Department she ran out the door and was chased by officers and after a brief foot chase she was taken into custody after she resisted arrest with officers. She was then taken back to the Harrington Police Department. She was charged by the Harrington Police Department with Criminal Impersonation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Trespass Third Degree, Resisting Arrest with Force and Attempted to Commit Escape Third Degeree. Ms. Hughes also had an active capias out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas. She was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and given a $3,000 unsecured bond on the charges from the Milford, Delaware State Police and Harrington charges relating to the trespassing. He was issued a $2,500 secured bond for the Attempted Escape and Resisting Arrest Charges and a $1,000 cash only bond for the capias. She was then committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Facility in Wilmington.

Harrington Woman Arrested for Theft and Related Charges Released Friday October 12, 2018 Harrington-On October 9, 2018 the Harrington Police Department arrested Kristin E. Samans 29, of Hammondtown Rd. in Harrington for Theft and related charges. In August 2018 police were called to the Hardee’s located on Milford-Harrington Hwy. for a theft complaint. Police contacted a store employee who reported that Ms. Samans was stealing money from the business. During the course of the investigation police determined that Ms. Samans used a counterfeit $100 bill and made change and kept the money and then left the store. Police obtained a warrant for her arrest and on October 9th she was taken into custody. She was processed at the Harrington Police Department and was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2. She was charged with Theft under $1,500 and Uses, Manufactures or Displays Item with Trademark Counterfeiting. She was released on $3,000 unsecured bond.

New Jersey Man Arrested for Resisting Arrest and Related Charges Released Friday October 12, 2018 Harrington-On October 10, 2018 at 10:05 pm the Harrington Police Department arrested Donte Demunguia 24, of Absecon, New Jersey for Resisting Arrest and related charges. While on patrol officers were called to Park Brown Rd. in the area of Friendship Village Apartments for a report of a Check on the Welfare for a person walking along the roadway. Police were given a description and while searching the area police located Mr. Demunguia, who was walking down the middle of the road without any illumination and fitting the description given to officers. The officers contacted Mr. Demunguia in an attempt to get to him to stop. He failed to stop and began to yell and curse at the officers and failed to stop and continued walking. Officers attempted to continue to stop and Mr. Demunguia removed his shirt and took and an offensive position towards the officers. An officer then deployed his department issued Taser and Mr. Demunguia was then taken into custody. He was treated on scene by EMS and he refused treatment. He was then transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. He was charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Carry Light on Public Roadway. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on unsecured bond.

Bridgeville Man Arrested for Carjacking and Related Charges after Domestic Dispute Released Monday October 8, 2018 Harrington-On October 7, 2018 the Harrington Police Department arrested Edward J. Stewart 28, of Moyer Lane in Bridgeville after police responded to a report of a domestic dispute. While on patrol police were called to the Walgreens Sunday evening, located on South DuPont Hwy. in Harrington for a report of a domestic dispute. While responding to the domestic dispute officers were advised of a vehicle accident on South DuPont Hwy. south of the fairgrounds that was possibly related to the domestic dispute. Officers were also advised that the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident had fled on foot and threw and item while running and that he was being chased by and Off-Duty Police Officer. Officers arrived at the accident scene and found Mr. Stewart being detained by the Off-Duty Officer and they took Mr. Stewart into custody. Officers also found a bag containing 33.8 grams of Marijuana that Mr. Stewart threw while he was running. During the course of the investigation police determined that the Victim was operating a vehicle on South DuPont Hwy. in Harrington and Mr. Stewart was the passenger. While inside the vehicle Mr. Stewart began assaulting the Victim causing the victim to pull onto the shoulder of the highway in the area of the Walgreens. The Vic. then fled into the store and was being chased by Mr. Stewart. Mr. Stewart then left the store and fled the scene in the Victim’s vehicle before crashing the vehicle south of the fairgrounds. Mr. Stewart was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. Harrington Police charged Mr. Stewart with Carjacking First Degree, Criminal Mischief over $5,000, Possession of Marijuana, Offensive Touching, Disorderly Conduct and Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $12,400 cash only bond. The Delaware State Police charged Mr. Stewart with Driving under the influence and related charged stemming from the accident due to the accident occurring in State Police Jurisdiction. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at Milford Memorial Hospital
