**Update; Suspects arrested and charged in Monday's shooting** SPD detectives have worked around the clock since Monday's late night shooting. Investigators took 2 suspects in custody hours after this investigation began. Earlier this evening, the suspects were formally charged and arraigned in JP #7. See the link below for further details. Both suspects were remanded to the custody of the Dept. of Corrections after failing to post bond. No suspects are outstanding and there is no active risk to public safety.

**SPD continuing to investigate late night shooting** SPD detectives continue to investigate a shooting which occurred Monday night at approx. 10 pm in the 400 block of Baldwin Dr. 2 Victims were shot in their lower extremities during an argument, both are expected to survive. SPD currently has 2 Suspects in custody for this incident as we continue to investigate. More details will be released when they become available. There is NO ACTIVE PUBLIC SAFETY THREAT.

**SPD seeking public assistance** Investigators are asking for your assistance in identifying the below pictured male. He is described as a light skinned black male, approx. 6 feet tall and 270 lbs, the hat he is wearing is a Bass Pro Shops brand. He is wanted for questioning in regards to a fraud investigation. **SPD accepting applications** **DE COPT Certified** The Smyrna Police Dept. is currently seeking applicants for the position of CERTIFIED Police Officer. **2018 Halloween trick or treat safe zone** SPD will again be hosting a trick or treat safe zone on 10/31/18 from 6pm to 8pm. The location is Market St Plaza/JBM property. All residents and their children are welcome. We encourage local business owners, groups, charities etc. to get involved and help us pass out candy. **Online Scam Alert** SPD has begun investigating multiple reports of persons being extorted for money after "meeting" women on various online dating sites. Suspects in this scam impersonate Smyrna Police officers and demand payment in forms such as green dot pay pal etc. Please see the link for more details. **SPD seeking public help identifying suspects** Smyrna Police investigators are seeking the public’s help identifying the pictured subjects in reference to recent thefts. Please take note of the vehicle they are driving (dark colored 2000’s Chevy Z71 1500 pickup). Any persons with information are asked to contact Det. **Detectives arrest Dover man for multiple counts of Rape** SPD investigators have arrested Robert Halama, 62 of Dover, DE for multiple counts of Rape 4th. This investigation began on 9/6/18 when Patrol responded to a check on the welfare of an occupied vehicle. Further investigation revealed evidence of an on-going illegal sexual relationship involving the suspect and a 17 year old victim. See more details at the link below. **SPD investigating officer involved collision** SPD is actively investigating an officer involved collision that occurred on 8/17/18 at approx. 11 pm. An on-duty SPD patrol officer responding to a request for immediate assistance from another officer was involved in a collision in the area of S Dupont Blvd/E Commerce St. The officer's patrol car left the roadway, striking unoccupied parked vehicles. The SPD is aware of circulating social media reports/posts regarding the luring or attempted luring of children in the Smyrna area by an African American male in a gold/tan mini van. We have investigated several of these reports, have identified the operator of the van, and have determined that no crime is occurring. In many instances, the alleged suspect is making contact with his own children who live in the area. We thank the public for their concern and willingness to report suspicious activity. We are posting this to alleviate any fears or false posts regarding these incidents.

**Employment Opportunity: Crossing Guard** The SPD is currently accepting applications for the position of crossing guard. This is a part-time position for the 2018-2019 school year. Applications may be obtained at the SPD (325 W Glenwood Ave). Completed applications are due by 8/22/18.

**Social worker impersonation report determined to be a hoax** SPD investigators have determined that the report made on Friday 7/27 regarding the impersonation of a "CPS" worker is a hoax. This incident never happened, and investigation into the motive behind the initial report remains on-going. See the link below for more details.

**SPD launching partnership with ANGEL program** The Smyrna Police Dept. has begun participating in the ANGEL program. The program, founded in 2015 by police in Gloucester, Massachusetts, was a response to the national opioid crisis. Individuals may enter our police facility and request help/treatment. Persons contacted during the course of Police operations may also be referred to the treatment program in lieu of prosecution at the discretion of Officers. **Card Charges-Slate Cafe** We have fielded numerous phone calls today regarding customers finding charges on their credit/debit accounts from Slate Cafe in Smyrna. It has been determined that these charges were processed late (from instances dating back 1.5 years ago) due to a processing error on the merchant's behalf. Nothing criminal has been found, and as such please refer this matter to your bank/credit company and Slate Cafe.

**SPD launches online crime-mapping** SPD is excited to announce that our agency is now providing access to an online interactive crime map. Citizens and any interested persons can access this interactive map 24/7 to see nearly real time crime statistics in their community. The crime map is updated daily with information obtained from the crime reports generated by SPD officers and approved by SPD supervisors.

**National Night Out 2018** We are excited to announce that we will again be hosting our annual National Night Out. This event will take place Thursday August 9th, from 6 to 8pm. **No parking and road closure** The downtown area will be affected by no parking zones and also some street closures due to the Smyrna at Night festival beginning tomorrow 6/29. The following areas will be affected; W South St from Main St to Market St Plaza will have no parking from 1pm-10pm Market St Plaza from South St to Cummins St will have no parking from 1pm to 10pm. Additionally, all of Market St Plaza will close from 3pm to 10pm. W Commerce St from Benson St to Main St will have no parking from 3pm to 10pm. Main St from W Commerce St to South St will have no parking from 3pm to 10pm. We ask that you kindly remove your vehicles in accordance with the above. The areas will also be clearly marked with no parking signs.

On 5/26 during business hours this suspect entered the rear of Capriotti's on W Glenwood Ave and removed a sum of money from the office area.
