Attention! The fall RUT will soon be upon us! Deer can be much more active and careless during this time of year. Here are a few driving tips to think about: *Be cautious while driving during dusk or dawn Deer are most active during sunrise and sunset, especially during mating season, which is in full swing from October through December. Ensure that you and your passengers are wearing seat belts at all times, even in the back seat, just in case you have to make a sudden stop. *Stay alert if you spot a deer Deer tend to travel in packs – so if you see one deer, slow down and proceed with caution. Even if you spot a deer on the side of the road or surrounding areas, remember that there could be others about to cross your path. *Take precautions when driving in the dark Nighttime driving can put a strain on the eyes, so be safe by driving at a moderate speed. If there is no oncoming traffic, turn on your high beams: You’ll not only be able to see clearer, but you’ll have a greater chance of spotting a deer from a distance.

As you know Halloween is tomorrow, so we wanted to give out some tips to make your night as safe as possible! Tip number 1: A parent or responsible adult should accompany children on their neighborhood rounds. Tip number 2: Have flashlights with new batteries for all children and their escorts. Tip number 3: If your older children will be trick or treating in a group, then plan the route and make sure you specify a time and place where they are to meet you. Tip number 4: Only go to the homes that have their porch lights on. Never ever go into a house or in a car for a treat. Also, pedestrian injuries are some of the most common injuries on Halloween. Make sure children walk in groups with flashlights and have reflective material or reflective tape on their bags and costumes. Always remain on sidewalks and well-lit streets. Remember when crossing streets use crosswalks and just because one car stops it doesn’t mean they all stopped, so look both ways. Finally, contact the police if any criminal or suspicious activity is observed. Follow these tips and have a safe and Happy Halloween
Come visit us tomorrow night, don't make us eat all the candy ourselves!
