Happy Founders Week! This week, we celebrate those who make the Samford experience possible: our founders and donors. Samford was founded as Howard College in Marion, Ala. in 1841 by four members of Siloam Baptist Church: Gen. Edwin D. King, James Harvey DeVotie, Julia Tarrant Barron and Rev. Milo P. Jewett (pictured from L to R). One founder, James DeVotie, was only 27 when he led the effort to incorporate Howard College!

Samford's women's soccer team has been working with Champion Sports Medicine on an ACL prevention study. After the first year we are already seeing great results 👉👉100% reduction in non-contact ACL injuries! Read more:

Samford’s national reputation is affirmed by the 2019 U.S. News and World Report Graduate Rankings just released! The latest rankings recognize multiple Samford programs among the top in the country based on a variety of factors, including reputation, faculty credentials, student engagement and selectivity.

UPDATE: ‪Samford University will close at 5 p.m. today, March 19 due to the threat of severe weather. Classes and evening activities are canceled. Food service in the Caf will continue with normal operations and hours. Stay safe!‬ The National Weather Service is tracking a severe weather threat expected later today and into the evening. Our emergency management team is in contact with the National Weather Service and monitoring conditions closely. In Samford University School of Health Professions, state-of-the-art technology, like our Anatomage Table, takes learning to the next level. Our Anatomage Table is a technologically advanced anatomy visualization system, which provides students the chance to study and explore the human body and its 11 major systems through a touch screen interface. This dynamic learning environment is offered to all students in the School of Health Professions, including undergraduate and graduate students.
