A-State Closing Tuesday, Jan. 16 Today at 12:39 AM JONESBORO – Arkansas State University is closed today, Tuesday, Jan. 16, due to winter precipitation. All winter response staff members are requested to report to their duty stations. Overnight, snow fall made conditions for faculty and staff hazardous. "Our administrative team determined the snowfall was going to be heavier than forecast and while today was scheduled to be the first day of class for the spring 2018 semester, I've decided it is best that we cancel classes for today," Chancellor Kelly Damphousse said. All classes at the Jonesboro and Paragould locations are cancelled. Online classes continue. While offices and classes are closed, university residential life areas continue to operate to support the on-campus student population. For students living on-campus, Acansa Dining Hall will operate under "brunch hours" with service from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and then 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. For updates on A-State events, please check the university’s official website or social media feeds, or @ArkansasState on Twitter.

UPD’s Sgt. Andy Thrasher and JPD’S Detective Brian Arnold out in the community today participating in “Shop with a Cop”. Thank you for donating your time to make a difference in our community!

From the UPD family to your family.

Getting ready to judge the Greek Adonis. We are already rocking the house.

UPD handing out candy, color sheets, and stickers was the bomb. Not sure who had more fun UPD Officers or the future little red wolves. I know one thing we need more candy, the turnout was spectacular. Can’t wait till next year! Wolves Up!

The Fall Nix & Alice Petting Zoo was a huge success today with folks of all ages. UPD had a blast handing out stickers, coloring sheets, and safety information to parents. Some of the residents of the farm had fun getting their pictures taken along with getting all kinds of hugs, kisses, and petting. I don’t think they were to happy with the eye poking. I’m sure that will be one resident area that will be sleeping all night.

Awesome turnout for Arkansas State University Transfer Student Preview Day! Red Wolf country has room for you to make this your new home in Jonesboro! UPD is here to help you. #WolvesUp!

UPD held a self-defense class tonight at the CP Club house for the RAs. These are the only photos UPD was able to take because once 64 RAs showed up we were busy learning how to punch and kick our attacker. You Red Wolves were awesome!

UPD teamed up with ASU Counseling Center and Greek Life today for National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness. Had some red wolves come out to drive the cart while wearing the DWI goggles. Had a lot to pledge no drinking and driving.

Congratulations to Sergeant Andy Thrasher for being selected as the Exchange Club's Craighead County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year!
