Alma Police Department News

More pictures, thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate Captain Peppas.

After twenty four years of faithful service, we say goodbye to Captain Jayson Peppas. He has touched all of our lives in profound ways. Always a phone call away late at night if you had a question and needed advice. The word that keeps popping up is that it’s just going to be “weird” without him. We hope he takes some well earned time off with Jenni and the kids. Happy retirement and we love you Brother.

Check out our new background photo! Thank you Robert Hopp for the impromptu photo shoot last night, the photo is awesome.

Update!!! Both dogs have been adopted, thank you everyone. Ok Alma we need your help. We have been awarded custody of two adult Boxers. One male and one female. These sweet pups are in need of adoption. There will be restrictions, we have to make sure they are going to a good home. If you are interested please contact Lynn Inge at 479-217-0585 for further information.

Looking for somewhere to get rid of old prescription medications? You can always come to the Alma Police Department. We have a secure Drug Take Back Drop Box in our lobby. Between October 2017 and April 2018, 91.5 pounds of medication was dropped off at our location. This is medication that is now not at risk of showing up on our streets, in our schools or helping fuel the opioid epidemic.

Governor Hutchinson meet Officer Hutchinson. It is always fun when State Leadership comes to visit our community.

You may have noticed an increased police presence around the High School yesterday morning. Nothing to worry about, just Governor Asa Hutchinson visiting to talk about Kick Start Alma.

***Position Announcement Please Share*** Our Department is currently seeking applications for two School Resource Officers (SRO’s). These positions will be considered full time and include all benefits. Unlike our other SRO’s these officers will work a schedule based mostly on the times children are at school. Due to the short amount of time to have these officers ready for the beginning of the 2018/2019 school year, we are limiting consideration for these positions to persons who are currently certified or are still within the CLEST guidelines to be full time certified police officers without the need for additional training. Please pick up applications at the Alma Police Department.

Alma Citizens Police Academy 2018 came to a close tonight. Over these last few weeks it has been our honor to get to know each and everyone of our participants. It was so much fun that we are already looking forward to next year. Thank you Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown for being our keynote speaker. Congratulations to all of our class members! And congratulations to award our winning Top Shots. Deborah Wilson and Paul Marshall both shot a score of 147 out of 150. Good job you two!!

We’re not sure of the final score, but we believe the Abilities Unlimited has been practicing for the game. Next time we’re going to have to have a training camp to prepare. Everyone had a great time!! We tired to trade some of our players at halftime and they said “no way.”

Flag football at Abilities Unlimited. We are proud to get to participate in this event today as part of United Ways 25th Annual Day of Caring!!

***Please Share*** Alma Fire Department will be conducting a controlled house fire at 920 Collum Lane today.
