Hervey St. (Super 1 Foods) S – Willie Munn, 62, of Ozan, AR Mr. Munn was arrested and charged with theft of property and criminal trespass. Mr. Munn was also served with a foreign warrant. OTHER: 09.11.18 S – Norteisha Johnson, 19, of Hope, AR S – Shema Davis, 26, of Hope, AR S – Shelby Taylor, 24, of Hope, AR Ms. Johnson and Ms. Davis was arrested and charged with battery in the second degree and engaging in violent criminal group activity. Ms. Taylor was arrested and charged with terroristic threatening in the first degree and served with a failure to appear warrant. The original incident occurred on September 9th, 2018 in the 2200 block of Bill Clinton Dr. (Peaks Apartments) at 0040 hours. 09.12.18 S – Gerald Bell, 38, of Prescott, AR Mr. Bell was charged with failure to register vehicle, driving on suspended driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. The original incident occurred on September 9th, 2018 in the 1600 block of N. Hervey St. at 1052 hours.

OTHER: 09.08.18 S – Wesley Wright, 31, of Hope, AR Mr. Wright was arrested and charged with aggravated residential burglary. The original incident occurred on January 3rd, 2018 in the 800 block of Henry C. Yerger St. at 1854 hours.

On September 2, 2018, Alexis Bradley, 21, of Hope, Arkansas was arrested with a warrant and charged with aggravated assault. The arrest was the result of an investigation into an incident that occurred on July 31st, 2018 in the 400 block of Caney Creek Circle. Witness advised that on that date, Bradley attempted to strike a person with a vehicle she was driving. Bradley was held at the Hempstead County Detention Facility for a first court appearance.

The Hope Police Department was honored with the 2018 STEP award on September 6th, 2018 at the Arkansas Highway Safety Awards. The Hope Police Department was among six agencies from the state of Arkansas to receive this award. This award is not given to all law enforcement agencies who participate in the STEP grant program but to those who strive for excellence and work hard to protect the citizens of their jurisdiction through upholding the Arkansas State traffic safety laws. This award belongs to each member of the Hope Police Department who work hard and work together. This success was not achieved by one person working but each person completing their part. Assistant Chief Kim Tomlin accepted this award on behalf of the Police Department.

Hickory St. S – Mary Cooper, 48, of Hope, AR Ms. Cooper was charged with criminal mischief in the first degree. OTHER: 09.01.18 S – Michael Walker, 29, of Hope, AR Mr. Walker was charged with criminal mischief in the first degree and violation of a protection order. The original incident occurred on August 22nd, 2018 in the 1500 block of W. Ave B at 1049 hours.

On August 28, 2018, at approximately 730pm, Hope Police Officer Justin Dean and his K-9 partner, Rojo received a call to assist the Arkansas State Police on Interstate 30 near the 31 mile marker, in Hope, Arkansas. Upon arrival, Officer Dean made contact with an Arkansas State Trooper who requested that K9 Rojo conduct a free air sniff around a Dodge pickup truck. While conducting the free air sniff, Rojo alerted to the odor of narcotics near the passenger door of the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 64 pounds of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, resulting in the arrest of two Hispanic male suspects. Several of the packages were coated in a red substance believed to grease, commonly used to attempt to mask the odor of narcotics.

The Hope Police Department had a great turn out for the 2018 Rookies vs. Veterans Softball Game and Homerun Derby. The Derby was open to the public. Men’s Division Winner: Randy Young Women’s Division Winner: Cassie Green Kids 12 and Under Winner: Carson Oller After a battle with each other and Mother Nature, the Rookies won the game with the final score of 26-25. Both teams voted Randy Young of the Rookies Team the M.V.P. The Hope Police Department received $ 480.00 in donations for their Santa Cop Program. On August 22, 2018 at approximately 5pm, officers of the Hope Police Department served Barry Jones, 37, of Hope with a warrant for Aggravated Assault of a Family Member. The warrant was the result of an investigation into an incident that took place on August 20, 2018, at approximately 5am in the 1300 block of South Main Street, in Hope. During that incident, the victim alleges that Jones pushed her and choked her causing obstruction of breathing. Jones was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Facility where he was held for 1st appearance.
