THREE ARRESTED IN CALICO ROCK IDENTIFIED On September 16, Theresa Kay Weeks age 52 of Paragould was arrested and charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to appear. Weeks is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $440 bond. Weeks is scheduled to appear in Izard County district Court on September 20. On September 12, James Owen Statler of Calico Rock was arrested by Sgt. Steve Davidson for driving while intoxicated 3rd offence, fleeing in vehicle and driving while suspended. Statler is incarcerated and bonded on a $30,000 bond. Statler is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on January 23. On September 16, Cody Justin Casey age 30 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested by Deputy Mike Smith for violation of a no contact order, harassing communications and terroristic threatening 2nd degree. Casey was incarcerated and given an OR bond. Casey is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on October 9. On September 14, Gregory Cook age 29 of Mammoth Springs was arrested by Deputy Toby Smith for possession of a controlled substance, meth, theft by receiving, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cook is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $40,000 bond. Cook is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on October 9. On September 14, Kevin Barnes age 28 of Koshkonog, Missouri was arrested by Deputy Toby Smith for possession of a controlled substance, meth, theft by receiving, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barnes in incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $40,000 bond. Barnes is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on October 9. On September 14, Blake Giller age 28 of Salem was arrested by Deputy Toby Smith for possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by receiving and possession of a defaced firearm. Giller is incarcerated in the izard County Detention Center in Lieu of a $40,000 bond. Giller is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on October 9. On September 13, Christopher Dennis Stone age 41 of Salem was arrested by Deputy Mark Simino for failure to appear and failure to pay fines. On September 11, Donald James Jones age 42 of Franklin was arrested by Deputy Watts for criminal trespass. Jones was given an OR bond and is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on October 25. On September 11, Patrick Hutchins age 21 of Melbourne was arrested by Sgt. Sanders for harassing communications and harassment. Hutchins was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and given an OR bond. Hutchins is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on December 13. On September 10, Quenton Dakota Harvey age 20 of Melbourne was arrested by Sgt. Steve Davidson for possession of a controlled substance. Harvey bonded on a $1270 bond and is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on October 11. On September 16, Taira Jean Weeks age 45 of Paragould was arrested by Sgt. Steve Davidson for Violation of Hot Check law. Week is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $620 bond. Weeks is scheduled to appear in Izard County district Court on September 20.

SCAM ALERT THE IZARD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WOULD LIKE TO MAKE ALL CITIZENS OF IZARD COUNTY AWARE OF ANOTHER SCAM THAT IS GOING AROUND IN THE COUNTY. IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL FROM ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY SAYING THAT YOU HAVE A WARRANT AND THAT YOU NEED TO SEND MONEY, THIS IS A SCAM. THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WOULD NOT BE CALLING ANYONE WITH THE THREAT OF ARREST AND ASKING FOR MONEY.

THREE ARRESTED IN CALICO ROCK At Approximately midnight on September 11, 2018, Deputy Toby Smith responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at Calico Rock near the intersection of Highways 5 and 56. After investigation three individuals were taken into custody on charges of Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Defaced Firearm, and Simultaneous Possession Drugs and Firearms. It was later determined the firearm was reported stolen from West Plains, MO. The suspects had addresses of Salem, AR., Mammoth Springs, AR., and Koshkonong, MO. Names of the suspects are being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.

SEVERAL BURGLARIES AND ARSON REPORTED IN CALICO ROCK In the early morning hours of Sunday Sept. 9th, a burglar alarm activation was reported to the Izard County Sheriff’s Department from the Survival USA Business in Calico Rock. Deputies responding discovered that the front door had been broken into and that McClain Chiropractic Office next door had also been broken into. A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire at Judy’s Antique Shop. It was also determined that several vehicles at Van Evera’s car lot had been broken into. Shortly thereafter, a Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Chessmond Ferry Road. A short pursuit ensued when the vehicle wrecked. One suspect was taken into custody. Subsequent Investigation revealed several items in the vehicle that had been stolen from Harp’s Grocery in Calico Rock. Also evidence of the suspect’s involvement in the other burglaries and arson were found. The name of the suspect is being withheld until formal charges have been filed.

Battery Leads To Arrest According to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley on September 1 Nicholas Alexander Lamb age 19 of Brockwell was arrested by Sgt. Mark Simino of Battery 3rd, Obstructing Governmental Operations, and Disorderly Conduct. Lamb is incarcerated in the Izard County detention center in lieu of a $1500 cash only bond and was given a No Contact Order. Lamb is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 6. On September 2, Kerry Lynn McCormick age 25 of Oxford was arrested and charged with Harassing Communications, Assault 2nd Degree, 2 counts Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief. McCormick is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $3,500 bond. McCormick is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 6. On august 29 Henry Daniel Bassett age 52 of Hardy, was arrested by Deputy Mike Foster for Driving on Suspended. Bassett was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $365 bond. Bassett is scheduled to appear in the Izard County District Court October 11. On August 28 Haley Danielle Cartwright age 25 was arrested for 3rd Degree Battery. Cartwright bonded on a $500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 6. On August 29 Roger Wayne Langford age 64 of Melbourne was arrested by Sgt. Mark Simino for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Improper Parking, DWI-drugs, No Vehicle License and Failure to Pay Registration. Langford is incarcerated In the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $3600 Bond. Langford is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 20. On August 24 Joseph A. Wolford age 42 of Calico Rock was arrested by Deputy Geoffrey Watts for Failure to Pay Fines. Wolford is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of $830 cash bond. Wolford is Scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 6. On September 1 James Henry Howell age 52 of Mountain View was arrested and charged with Failure to Appear. On September 2 Shawn Richard Willett age 43 of Oxford was arrested by Deputy Geffrey Watts for Assault 3rd degree and two counts of Terroristic Threatening 2nd degree. On September 2 Debra Rene McCollum age 40 of Sydney was arrested by Deputy Mike Smith for Driving on Suspended, Failure to Pay Registration and No Liability Insurance. McCollum was incarcerated and bonded on a $685 bond. McCollum is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on OCT. 9 On august 28 James Melvin Garner age 29 of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy DJ Tiernan for theft by receiving. Garner is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of $1000 bond. Garner is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 20.

According to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley there have had several reports of scams via phone, internet, and Facebook. Some of the phone numbers they are calling from appear to be local numbers but they are actually calling from overseas. DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE, INTERNET, OR FACEBOOK. This information can be used to access your account and take your money or open credit cards in your name.

Otero is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 6. On August 26, Deunrae Livingston age 27 of Dumas was arrested by Sgt. Steve Davidson for failure to appear. Livingston was given an OR bond. On August 25 Eren Edwards age 18 of Melbourne was arrested by deputy Rusty Ford for Domestic Battery. Edwards is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention center Edwards is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 20. On August 26 Randoll Yancey age 49 of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy Evan Jones for DWI, Yancey was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on $2110 cash Bond. Yancey is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on October 11. On August 23 Nicholas Adam Staggs age 52 of Melbourne was arrested by Sargent Mark Simino for Driving on Suspended. According to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley on August 22, 2018 at approximately 10:06 a.m. the Izard County Sheriff's Department along with the Calico Rock Fire Department, Pineville Fire Department, and Vital Link Ambulance responded to the Calico Rock Elementry School for an incident that claimed the life of a 48-year-old Mountain Home man, Steve Allen, who worked for Methvin Sanitation. The incident occurred while Allen was emptying the dumpster. The investigation is ongoing with no foul play suspected. No school personnel or students were involved.

ASSAULT AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF LEADS TO ARREST On August 16, Nicholas Adam Staggs age 31 of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy Rusty Ford for driving on revoked license. Staggs was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $510 bond. Staggs is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on September 6. On September 15, Justin Louis Hale age 27 of Phoenix Arizona was arrested by Deputy Toby Smith for failure to pay fines. Hale was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $1755 bond. Hale is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 23. On August 14, William Edward White was arrested and charged with 1st degree assault and 1st degree criminal mischief. White was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $6000 bond. White is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on September 11. On August 18, Nichole Marie Skidmore age 29 of Calico Rock was arrested by Deputy Geoffrey Watts for forgery 2nd degree. ON AUGUST 9 JENNIFER LYNN STATLER AGE 41 OF HORSESHOE BEND WAS ARRESTED BY DEPUTY MIKE SMITH FOR DRINKING IN PUBLIC AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT. STATLER WAS INCARCERATED AND GIVEN AN OR BOND. SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO ARREST According to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley, the Izard County Sheriffs Department along with members of the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force and the Arkansas Game and Fish executed a search warrant at the Carl Merentette residence located at 295 Pleasant Valley Road in Calico Rock. Merenette was charged with possession with the purpose to deliver meth, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia. Merentette is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond. Also arrested was Jamie Tai Hood of 86 Bonnie St. Calico Rock. Hood was also charged with simultaneous possession of firearms and drugs, possession with intent to deliver meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hood is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $20,000 cash bond. On July 14, Jessie A Sanders age 18 of Calico was arrested by Deputy Richard Crowe for possession of alcohol by minor. Sanders was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $320 bond. Sanders is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 23. On July 14, Robert Wayne Stowers age 26 was arrested by Deputy Richard Crowe for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Blanchard Is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in Lieu of a $1340 bond. Blanchard is scheduled to appear in Horseshoe Bend District Court on August 7. On July 13, John C. Purtle age 35 of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy Shaun Tomlinson for Domestic Battering 3rd degree. Purtle is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $1120 bond. Purtle is Scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 9. On July 10, Jessica Clark age 33 of Jordan was arrested by Deputy Geoffrey Watts for obstructing governmental operations and fleeing. Clark was incarcerated and bonded on a $1120 bond. Clark is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on July 26 . On July 14, Amanda Machelle Guy age 39 of Calico Rock was arrested by Deputy Evan Jones for failure to appear. Guy is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $1965 cash bond. Guy is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on July 26. On July 15, Virginia Lue Long age 21 of Oxford was arrested by Deputy Richard Crowe for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Long was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and given an OR bond. Long is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 23.

DEPUTIES CONTINUE TO STAY BUSY According to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley on July 8, Angie Ray Odell age 26 of Wideman was arrested by Deputy Rusty Ford for driving while license suspended and fictitious tags. Odell was incarcerated and bonded on a $710 bond. Odell is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 9. On August 7, Randi Nichole Tucker age 35 of Lepanto was arrested by Deputy DJ Tiernan for failure to appear. Tucker is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $1630 bond. Tucker is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 9. On July 7, Christopher Thomas Thornton age 40 of Calico Rock was arrested by Deputy Rusty Ford for resisting arrest and three counts of disorderly conduct. Thornton was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $1780 bond. Thornton is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on July 12. On July 6, Christopher Paul Spratt age 46 of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy DJ Tiernan for public intoxication, violation of protection order, domestic battering 3rd degree.. Spratt was incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center and bonded on a $3460 bond. Spratt is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on August 9. On July 6, Chance Lee Mccurley age 28 of Mtn. Home was arrested by Deputy Mark Simino for absconding. Mccurley is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center with no bond. On July 5, Danny Aubrey Sturgis age 62 of Pineville was arrested by Sgt. Mark Simino for failure to appear. Sturgis is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center with no bond. Sturgis is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on July 31. On July 5, Jeremy Jerrod Eubanks age 29 was arrested by Deputy Geoffrey Watts for two counts of theft of property and cruelty to animals. Eubanks is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,500 bond. Eubanks is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on July 31. On July 6, Mathew Jay Cox of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy Rusty Ford for possession of a controlled substance. Cox bonded on a $1270 bond. Cox is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on July 26.

NARCAN SAVES LIVES On June 27, Deputy Jaden Whitfield was dispatched to a residence in Oxford in reference to a person that overdosed. When Deputy Whitfield arrived at the scene the victim was unresponsive. Deputy Jaden Whitfield administered a dose of Narcan to the subject and in approx. three to five minutes the victim was responsive. The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The Izard County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank Deputy Jaden Whitfield for a job well done.
