On Tuesday, April 3, 2018, officers from the Tuckerman Police Department; Diaz Police Department; and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department participated in Union Pacific’s Crossing Accident Reduction Education and Safety Program (UP CARES). The program brings together communities in a collaborative and caring effort to promote railroad crossing and pedestrian safety. As part of the program, officers rode inside the locomotive and observed motorist behavior at railroad crossings inside the city limits of Tuckerman. As a result, two (2) citations and one (1) warning was issued for disobeying a RR signal device.
