PRESS RELEASE VEHICLE USED IN ATTEMPTED BUSINESS BURGLARY 11/08/2017 On November 5th, 2017 just before 3:00 a.m. at least three individuals participated in an attempted burglary of Paul’s Tobacco located at 3801 South Camden road. In a security video from an adjacent business a white delivery type van can be seen pulling up to the business and two individuals get out of the passenger side. After they go in opposite directions the van can be seen backing into the building twice before leaving. We are asking anyone with information as to the location of this van or the identities of the persons involved to contact the Detective Division at 870-730-2090 or dispatch at 870-541-5300. PRESS RELEASE Homicide 11/08/2017 At about 1:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 29th Avenue and Hazel Street in reference to a passenger car stopped in the roadway. The caller said they believed the occupant may have been shot. Upon officers arrival they located a Dodge Charger in the 1700 block of West 29th Ave with a single male occupant. The man was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of family. This is the early stages of the investigation and further information will be provided as it becomes available. PRESS RELEASE Fatal Pedestrian Collision Ends with Negligent Homicide Arrest. 11/01/2017 At about 3:40 a.m. on the morning of 11/01/2017 officers responded to a pedestrian collision on Martha Mitchell Expressway between University Avenue and Willow Street. At this time the investigation indicates 45-year-old Dewayne Jackson was walking west in the traffic lane with his back to traffic. Mr. Jackson was struck by a 1999 Nissan Maxima that was traveling west in the same lane. Within moments Mr. Jackson was struck a second time by another vehicle. Mr. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley. Following the investigation the driver of the Nissan, 22-year-old Nia Blade, was arrested for DWI, Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License, No Proof of Insurance. She was also arrested on probable cause of Negligent Homicide. A case file is being prepared and will be forwarded to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office once it is complete. Ms. Blade was booked into the Jefferson County Jail earlier this morning. No charges are expected against the driver of the second vehicle. The Pine Bluff Detective Office is still looking for Valentino Brasfield. Brasfield was last seen wearing dreads but is also known to wear his hair in an afro style. Brasfield is known to frequent the area of the Lake Shore apartments apartment #30. His last known address is 503 e. 40th. Brasfield is wanted for 2 counts of aggravated robbery that occurred on 10/04/2017 and 10/11/2017 at Metro pcs. Brasfield is also wanted on a carjacking that occurred on 10/11/2017. 18 year old Valintino Altalino-Deanglio Brasfield of Pine Bluff is wanted for Aggravated Robber in connection with a carjacking that happened on October 11, 2017 on East Harding in Pine Bluff. Brasfield is about 5' 7" tall and is known to be in the Broadmoor area. Just as a reminder to everyone. As with every year, traffic flowing from the UAPB Stadium will all be one way until the majority of the traffic at the stadium is gone. Traffic flow around U.A.P.B. Golden Lions Stadium will be changed to allow for the heavy volume of traffic following the Homecoming events on October 14, 2017. When the game is concluding, all traffic on University Drive (U.S. 79B) will only be allowed to go south towards the Martha Mitchell Expressway (U.S. 65B). All traffic on L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive will only be allowed to go south to Pullen Street and then west on Pullen Street. Anyone needing to pick up someone at the stadium should be there at least 30 minutes prior to the end of the game. No one will be allowed to go north on University Drive after the conclusion of the game. Any person needing to get to their residence or job, located west of University Drive, should access the area from Dollarway Road to Rhinehart Road.

PRESS RELEASE Aggravated Robbery 10/10/2017 Just before midnight on 10/10/2017 officers were dispatched to the Valero Gas Station at 3000 E Harding in reference to a Robbery. The employee on duty reported a black male entered the store, pushed a customer out of the way and ordered the customer to get down. He then used a handgun to threaten the clerk into opening the safe. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the store with the money and the clerk’s cell phone. The cell phone was recovered in the parking lot. The customer had left the store before officers arrived. We are asking the public for help in identifying the person in these photos. He appears to be wearing a red hoodie with gray pants and gloves. PRESS RELEASE 10/112017 Human Remains Identified On 09/27/2017 human skeletal remains were found in a field in the 2200 block of West 30th Ave. On 10/11/2017 the Arkansas State Crime Lab notified the Pine Bluff Police Department that an identification of those remains had been made. Those remains have been identified as those of 39-year-old William Hopson. Mr. Hopson was last seen in the area of 28th and Camden Road on 03/15/2017. The identification was made by clothing, articles found with the remains, and by comparing surgical implants against the medical records of Mr. Hopson. There were no signs of trauma on the remains and the cause of death has been listed by the crime lab as undetermined. The Pine Bluff Police are asking for help in identifying a Robbery Suspect. The man in all black robbed a local business shortly after leaving the view of the camera. PRESS RELEASE 09/27/2017 Human Remains Found Shortly before 3:00 p.m. the Pine Bluff Police Department was alerted to the location of possible human remains. The skeletal remains of what is believed to be a human were located on a wooded piece of property in the 2200 block of West 30th Ave. The clothing and remains were collected and are being sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification. Due to the condition of the remains we currently do not have any information concerning identity including race and sex. In addition to identification, cause of death is yet to be determined as well. Although not declared a homicide at this time it is being investigated as one until determined otherwise. Please note you may have seen a photo of the remains on Facebook and/or other social media outlets. The Pine Bluff Police Department DID NOT release these photos. They were apparently taken by someone before we arrived on the scene. These remains have not been identified therefore no next of kin has been notified. PRESS RELEASE 09/13/2017 Drug Seizure Detectives with the Pine Bluff Vice & Narcotics Division are conducting an ongoing investigation into the trafficking and sale of synthetic marijuana also known as K2. As part of this investigation on 09/07/2017 a search warrant was executed on a storage unit. That warrant resulted in the seizure of a total 26.6 pounds of synthetic marijuana. The owner of the illegal drug is known and charges will be filed. 26.6 pounds of this substance is a significant seizure. Synthetic marijuana is a potent substance that has a tendency to cause its users to act extremely irrational and violent. Despite some deaths being attributed to the use of this substance there are many who believe it is safer alternative to traditional narcotics. We cannot stress enough how dangerous these substances are. The investigation that led to this specific seizure is ongoing. However, we ask anyone with knowledge of sales of these substances to contact the police department. PRESS RELEASE Homicide 09/10/2017 A shooting in Pine Bluff has left one man dead and another injured. Shortly after 9:00 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Olive Street in reference to a shooting. Upon their arrival they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital where 29-year-old Roderick Burnett was pronounced dead. The other victim has been admitted to the hospital in stable condition. An altercation of some kind occurred at the car wash located at 2401 South Olive. That disturbance led to shots being fired that resulted in both victims being shot. After the shooting both victims fled the scene on foot to the business next door (Sonic Drive-in) where they were found by police. The initial investigation is in its early stages and a motive is yet to be developed. However, information obtained has been able to identify 27-year-old Kevin Rauls as a suspect. Mr. Rauls has addresses in both the White Hall and Conway Arkansas areas. He was last seen in a newer model black Nissan Altima. There may be damage to the windows of this vehicle. PRESS RELEASE 08/31/2017 Pharmacy Burglary The Pine Bluff Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying the subject shown in these images. On 08/29/2017 shortly after midnight a suspect used a hammer to break out the glass to the front door of the Chapel Pharmacy at 3800 South Camden Road. The suspect entered the business and remained for just under a minute before fleeing on foot. Although a complete inventory is pending, the video indicates several bottles of medication were taken. At the time of the burglary the suspect believed to be a white male was wearing a hat and a piece of cloth over his face. PRESS RELEASE 08/22/2017 Theft Suspect On August 17th, 2017 the suspect pictured in this release stole a cell phone. Using the victim’s information stored on the phone various items were then purchase off EBay. The suspect was last seen as a passenger in a Nissan Sentra with Arkansas license 704VMO. Those tags do not return to that vehicle. PRESS RELEASE 08/21/2017 Body Cameras Earlier this year the Pine Bluff Police Department purchased about 50 body-worn cameras for the Patrol Division. Utilization of the cameras had to wait until three phases of implementation were completed. Phase 1: Installing computer equipment and software infrastructure to support storage of the videos. Phase 2: Updating department policy and procedures to accommodate the new technology. Phase 3: Training for the officers on the new policy and functioning of the camera system. All phases were completed on August 11th, 2017 and officers began wearing the cameras on August 14th, 2017. The cameras will be in the form of a black box worn on the officer’s uniform shirt. Officers will record all citizen contacts when enforcement action is taking place. These cameras are not a replacement for the in-car camera system but supplement that system.
