Logan County Sheriff's Office News

Logan County Citizens, we need your help! During an emergency situation all emergency services need to get to you and your loved ones as quickly as possible. You can assist us with this by making sure your address is clearly marked on your house, BOTH sides of your mailbox if at the driveway. If you do not use a mailbox and your house and address are not clearly visible from the road then have your numbers also posted at your driveway. Please help us and use at least 3 inch REFLECTIVE numbers. This will help so much due to many of our structures, mailboxes and rural driveways are not clearly marked. Thank you for your assistance.

We are looking for an organization or someone who has a legitimate need for a power chair lift that mounts in a pickup truck. It is designed to lift and load an electric mobility chair or scooter into a truck for transport. If you know of an Agency or individual who legitimately needs one, send me a private message and give me the name and contact information and we will contact them. We would like to provide this to someone who sincerely needs this equipment, not someone who just wants it. Please share and send all requests in private message. Sheriff Hicks

Deputy Escapes Serious Injury In Early Morning Crash. Deputy Skyler McElroy was involved in an accident when his vehicle slid off a rain slick Hwy. 217 South of Booneville this morning around 2:00 am. He was responding to a call for help from a lady who reported someone trying to break into her home. Deputy McElroy thankfully had only minor injuries after being taken to Mercy Hospital in Booneville. Other Officers responded to the call for help and no one was found in or around the caller's property. I would like to thank the Arkansas State Police and the Booneville Police Department for responding so quickly to aid Deputy McElroy. I would also like to thank the staff of the Mercy Hospital in Booneville for making sure Deputy McElroy was ok. Please remember that the roads are very slick and hazardous in many areas of our County, especially the dirt roads. Take extra precautions to ensure your safety and always wear your seat belts. And please say an extra prayer for all Law Enforcement Officers across this nation. They are risking their lives every time they rush to the aid of someone in trouble. Whether it's a shots fired call, man with a knife or like in this case someone who believes someone is breaking in their home, law enforcement always rushes toward the threat as fast as they can, sometimes to their own peril! I thank God my Deputy is ok and I thank all of you who continue to pray for our safety! God Bless, Sheriff Hicks
