On Monday, April 2nd, 2018 at approximately 5:00 pm the Logan County Sheriff's Office's Special Operations Unit, the Arkansas State Police and a Special Response Unit from Arkansas Community Corrections conducted a joint operation at a Ferguson Valley Road residence. A probation search of the residence was in regard to a male subject who was also wanted on felony domestic battery charges. Several attempts to apprehend this subject had failed in the past as the result of him fleeing in the woods upon our arrival. This time, as we arrived, the male suspect fled the residence out the back door only to be taken into custody by a number of Special Operations Unit Members of the Logan County Sheriff's Office who had hiked in from a substantial distance away and had the residence surrounded. The suspect was carrying a backpack which was found to contain approximately 16.45 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, over 30 grams of suspected Marijuana, and an unknown brown substance (believed also to be controlled substance) as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia and packaging materials. The suspect, identified as Warren Griffith, is facing multiple charges including: Posession of Methamphetamine with purpose to deliver over 10grams; Possession of a Schedule VI with purpose to deliver; Maintaining a drug premise; Unlawful use of a communication device; 2 counts of 1st degree endangering the welfare of a minor and fleeing. The investigation is ongoing and more charges may be forthcoming. I would like to thank the members of the Arkansas Community Corrections Special Response Unit, the Arkansas State Police and my Special Operations Unit Deputies for all their hard work and cooperation as it led to resolving this situation without anyone getting hurt and taking this potentially dangerous fugitive off the street. Logan County Citizens, we need your help! During an emergency situation all emergency services need to get to you and your loved ones as quickly as possible. You can assist us with this by making sure your address is clearly marked on your house, BOTH sides of your mailbox if at the driveway. If you do not use a mailbox and your house and address are not clearly visible from the road then have your numbers also posted at your driveway. Please help us and use at least 3 inch REFLECTIVE numbers. This will help so much due to many of our structures, mailboxes and rural driveways are not clearly marked. Thank you for your assistance.
