Issues and Answers • Donors cannot be on antibiotics, blood thinners or had hepatitis. • If a donor has an elevated heart rate (We will give you a few minutes and a bottle of water to see if it lessens). • Promote and educate acceptable iron levels (#1 reason people cannot donate blood) • It is okay to donate blood with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes even while taking meds • It is okay to donate blood after receiving the flu vaccine • It is okay to donate blood taking most anti-depressants, ADHD medications • Cancer survivors can donate if they have been cancer free for a minimum of 1 year • Tattoos are ok if they were done at a licensed facility in Arkansas and a few select states. If a potential donor received a tattoo outside of approved states, it must be a year old to be eligible to donate. No self-made tattoos allowed. Nutrition o (1 week before donating start eating beef, lamb, liver, pork, chicken, fish and shell fish, dried fruit, green, leafy vegetables, beans, peas, nuts &,whole/multi-grains…) o Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Consume several glasses/bottles of water to open up veins and promote good blood flow during the donation. o Avoid drinking tea a few days before the blood drive (tannic acid can interfere with iron absorption)

On 5/9/2018 a vehicle break in occurred in the Foxwood area in Jacksonville. Please attempt to identify the suspect and contact Detective Sipes and reference report# 18-02966.

The Jacksonville Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying a possible suspect in a forgery case that occurred at the Centennial Bank in Jacksonville where a subject forged stolen checks and cashed them in Jacksonville, Little Rock and Lonoke County in June of 2018. The one suspect pictured is a white male with red or brown facial hair. The subject is driving a black car, unknown make or model. Jacksonville Police Department to Receive Body Armor by Donation Jacksonville Police Department’s K9 Spartan will receive a bullet and stab protective vest, courtesy of a charitable donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization. Spartan’s new vest will be embroidered with the sentiment: “In memory of K9 Benga, Mountain Home Police, Arkansas”. Delivery of the fitted and specialized vest is expected within Eight (8) to Ten (10) weeks. K9 Spartan has been with the Jacksonville Police Department’s K9 Division since December, 2017, and is partnered with Officer Jordan Cline. In his short time with the Department, K9 Spartan has already proven his worth by participating in and successfully conducting drug searches resulting in arrests by multiple agencies and in tracking criminals attempting to flee from officers. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit located in East Taunton, Massachusetts, whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to service dogs of Law Enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit, established in 2009, assist Law Enforcement agencies with obtaining lifesaving body armor for Four-legged K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over Two Thousand Nine Hundred (2,900) protective vests for K9 officers throughout America by private and corporate donations totaling over Five Million Seven Hundred Thousand Dollars ($5,700,000.00). Vested Interest’s program is open to K9s actively employed in the U.S. with Law Enforcement or related agencies that are certified and are, at a minimum, Twenty (20) months of age. New K9 graduates, as well as K9s with expired vests, are all eligible to participate in the grant program. One protective vest for a Law Enforcement K9 is Nine Hundred Fifty Dollars ($950.00). Each vest has a retail value of up to Two Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-three Dollars ($2,283.00), carry a Five-year warranty, and weighs an average of Four and One-half (4.5) pounds. Theft of Property/Shoplifting from Game Stop Case # 18-03902 Please help identify the black male suspect in photographs. Attempt to identify subject. He is a suspect in shoplifting a PS4 from Game Stop on 06132018. He was seen getting into a red Nissan Altima, unknown LPN. The driver of the Altima was a B/F with purple hair.
