All major streets are mostly clear today, with occasional patches of ice. However, many of the shaded side streets are still slick. All city offices, including Sherwood District Court, are open today.

Our heartfelt thanks today to Sergeant Scott for twenty-one years of dedicated service to the City of Sherwood!!! Sergeant Scott has served his community not only with the Police Department, but also the Fire Department, and is a Combat Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I present the graduates of the 2017-B Basic Police Training Class of Black River Law Enforcement Training Academy Brett Nelson Jeremy Bormann Quinton Reinhardt. Quinton also received recognition for; 2nd in class for Firearms proficiency, 3rd in class for Physical Fitness, and 3rd in class for Overall performance. Please welcome them to our family and our community when you see them. They will now progress to the second phase of their training and will be teamed with a Field Training Officer to advance the training they have received.

Sherwood Police Department Citizen Police Academy starts October 3, 2017. SHERWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT 2201 EAST KIEHL AVENUE SHERWOOD, ARKANSAS 72120 SHERWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT PHONE NUMBER 501-835-1583 The Sherwood Police Department will be conducting a Citizens’ Police Academy beginning October 3, 2017. This will be a four-week academy designed to inform citizens on different aspects of law enforcement including Community Policing, Patrol Duties, Criminal Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, Tactical Training, Court Procedures, and Firearms Safety. The course will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The course is free, and we encourage all who want to gain an active knowledge of their police department to attend. Attendance will be limited to Sherwood property owners and business owners, at least 21 years old, without a criminal record. The purpose of the Citizens’ Police Academy is to develop positive relations between the police and community through education. The goals are to create a growing number of responsible, well-informed citizens who have the potential of influencing public opinions about police practices and services. Citizens will gain an appreciation of the problems and challenges facing law enforcement. Citizens will also have an opportunity to offer comments, opinions, and ideas regarding solutions to policing in the 21st Century. The instructors of the Citizens’ Police Academy will include officers and personnel from the Sherwood Police Department. The instructors will speak on their area of expertise. The Citizens’ Police Academy is coordinated through the Sherwood Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards. If you would like to attend the Sherwood Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy, please complete an application. Applications are available at the Sherwood Police Department, 2201 E. Kiehl Ave. Sherwood, AR 72120. All applications must be received by September 15, 2017. Class size will be limited to 40 students. Also watch for one way streets and school zone speed limits, as officers will be out in force to protect our kids! Arkansas Code 27-51-1609. Restrictions in school zones.
