Seven applicants passed the written test to become the next EPD officer. Now itโ€™s time for the physical fitness portion then interviews.

From Chief White: Attention! Attention! Attention! I am pleased to announce that Ofc. Ashley Barnes has been selected as Officer of The month for the month August. Ofc. Barnes was selected due to her initiative taken and investigative skills displayed which subsequently lead to the arrest of two subjects and a large amount of illegal narcotics being recovered. Ofc. Barnes, upon conducting a felony arrest, was able to forward pertinent information to assisting officers who subsequently made an additional arrest and seized additional drugs. Ofc. Barnes is to be commended for a job well done. Please take the opportunity to congratulate Ofc. Barnes for being selected as August's Officer of The Month. "Good Job Ofc. Barnes." The EPD will be conducting an active shooter drill at Westside School this morning beginning at 0800 hrs. There will be numerous officers and EMS that will be participating. DO NOT be alarmed from all of the emergency services traffic.

Due to high winds, the obstacle course has been taken down. Come on out and enjoy the rest of the party!

On Wednesday, August 8th, the viaduct between Madison St and Washington St. on Hillsboro, will be closed from 0830 to 0930. Please make sure you use alternate routes and share this message.

Starting the morning off right getting prepared for the Giant block party with all sorts of fun for the kids. Several organizations will be here to pass out information for a variety of things and the National Guard will be here with their obstacle course.
