******ATTENTION****** We have made physical contact with the individual. The lock down of Clinton School has been lifted.

There has been a threat made at the Clinton School District, the school is on lock down at this time. This is just a precautionary action. The Sheriff's Office has made contact with the subject that has made the threats. The Sheriff's Office will notify the media when all is clear and the school is no longer on lock down.

Press Release 11/08/2017 Damascus Woman Arrested for Domestic Violence From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley. On November 8, 2017, deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office were called to a disturbance on Highway 285. After a brief investigation deputies arrested 27 year old Stephanie Oliveaux on misdemeanor Battery III. All arrests are made on evidence obtained by deputies. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Press Release 11/08/2017 Oklahoma women arrested after fleeing deputies. From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley On November 8th, 2017, deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle. Deputies got into a pursuit with the vehicle. After a short pursuit deputies were able to stop the vehicle. During the stop 34 year old Ashley Denise Haviland of Oklahoma was arrested and charged with felony Fleeing, felony Theft by Receiving, felony Aggravated Assault, misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Improper Passing. Haviland is currently incarcerated at the Van Buren County Detention Center, awaiting arraignment. All arrests are made on evidence obtained by deputies. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Press Release 11/07/2017 Two Van Buren County residents arrested on drug charges From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley On November 7, 2017, deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Highway 92 East. During the stop deputies found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Arrested at the scene were, 51 year old Daniel Howe of Shirley and 42 year old Shae Hemmerich of Clinton. Howe was charged with felony Possession of Controlled Substance, felony possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving Left of Center. Hemmerich was charged with misdemeanor possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both Howe and Hemmerich later bonded on their charges. All arrests are made on evidence obtained by deputies. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Press Release 11/02/2017 Clinton man arrested on Domestic Battery charges From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley. On November 2, 2017, deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance on Cody Drive. After a brief investigation deputies arrested 18 year old Andrew Ward of Clinton. Ward was charged with Domestic Battery III and later bonded. All arrests are made on evidence obtained by deputies. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Press Release 10/04/2017 Clinton man arrested of felony Fleeing Charges. From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley On October 4th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding 75 mph in a 30 mph zone in Shirley. Deputies got into a pursuit with the vehicle, that would not spot for deputies after they activated their emergency lights and siren. The vehicle then crashed near the Shirley School and was occupied by to persons. As deputies attempted to arrest the driver, the driver became combative and was resisting arrest. The female passenger of the vehicle attempted to help the driver resist arrest. Arrested at the incident location was 29 year old Waylon Bramlett of Clinton and 28 year old Kendra Elise Bramlett of Clinton. Waylon Bramlett was charged with felony Fleeing, misdemeanor Resisting Arrest, Driving while Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test, and Reckless Driving. Waylon later bonded on $2500.00 bond. Kendra Bramlett was charged with misdemeanor Obstruction Governmental Operations, misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, and misdemeanor Public Intoxication. Kendra later cash bonded.

Press Release 09/22/2017 Clinton man arrested for Aggravated Assault. From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley On September 22nd, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance on State Highway 16 W. After arriving and speaking with the victim, Deputies found that the victim had been assaulted boy 23 year old Michael Corey Leslie of Clinton. Leslie was still at the residence and became combative during the arrest. Leslie is being charged with felony Aggravated Assault, misdemeanor False Imprisonment, and misdemeanor Interfering with Emergency Communications. Leslie later bonded on $10,000.00 bond.

Press Release 09/15/2017 Cabot man arrested and charged with Theft of Property. From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley On September 15th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office and assisted by Quitman PD, responded to a person stealing property from a residence on Sheep Shank Rd. After arriving at the incident location, Deputies and Officers found the owner of property had detained the suspect. Deputies arrested 70 year old Jimmie Ray Cannon of Cabot. Cannon is being charged with felony Theft of Property. Cannon received a $5000.00 bond and later bonded.

Press Release 09/18/2017 Three arrested during traffic stop for drug charges. From the desk of Sheriff Randy Gurley On September 18th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, during a traffic stop, found the occupants to be in possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Arrested at the strop where 45 year old Ronald Clyde Tatro Jr. of Harrison, 38 year old Mindy Lynn Green of Harrison and 29 year old of Harrison. All three are being charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. All three later bonded on their charges.

Suspect in custody , vehicle recovered!!

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Residential Burglary in the Shelton Road area. The suspect fled on foot from the burglary to a second location where he stole a white, 1998 Dodge Ram dually flatbed with a missing front grill off of East Mountain road. These two incidents happened within minutes of each other on the afternoon of Sunday, October 1, 2017. Brent Whitman, 23, is wanted for questioning in these incidents. Mr. Whitman may be in the Romance/Floyd area. Mr. Whitman has active warrants out of two counties at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriffs Department. All leads will remain confidential.

Press Release 08/30/2017 Clinton man arrested on drug charges. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 30th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's during a traffic stop found 19 year old Richard Warren Hall of Clinton to be in possession illegal drugs, and paraphernalia. Hall was arrested at driveway in Barrens Community. Hall was charged with misdemeanor Possession of Control a Controlled Substance, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and misdemeanor Minor in Possession. Hall later bonded on his charges.

Press Release 08/23/2017 Clinton man arrested on Violation of a no contact order. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 23rd, 2017, Deputes from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office arrested 40 year old Kenny Ray Slack of Clinton on a Violation of a no contact order on Graddy Rd in Van Buren County. Slack is currently incarcerated at the Van Buren County Detention Center with no bond.

Press Release 08/23/2017 Dennard man arrested on felony warrants. Jordon Dowell From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 23rd, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, came into contact with 22 year old Jordon Dowell of Dennard. Dowell was arrested on two felony warrants. Dowell is currently incarcerated at the Van Buren County Detention Center on no bond.

Press Release 08/19/2017 Clinton women arrested on drug charges. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 19th, 2017 Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop, arrested 37 year old Leann Garner of Clinton and 34 year old Beverly Lawrence of Clinton. During the stop deputies found both Garner and Lawrence to be in possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Garner is being charged with misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on Suspended Driver License, and Driving with No Proof of Liability Insurance. Lawrence is being charged with misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both Garner and Lawrence later bonded.

Press Release 08/11/2017 Clinton mas arrested on domestic charge. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 11th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call on Pebble Lane. After arriving and speaking with the victim and witnesses. Found the victim to have a cut on their right hand where the suspect had cut them. Arrested was 44 year old Anthony Phillip Price of Clinton. Price is being charged with felony Domestic Battery in the 2nd degree. Price is currently incarcerated at the Van Buren County Detention Center awaiting a first appearance.

Press Release 08/08/2017 Clinton man arrested on battery charges. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 8th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance on Bobbitt's Lane. While in route deputies found the possible suspect walking down the roadway. After speaking with the victim, witnesses and a brief investigation, deputies arrested 24 year old James Harvell Long III of Clinton. Long with charged with Battery in the 3rd degree. Long later bonded on his charges.

Press Release 08/08/2017 Clinton man arrested on battery charges From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 8th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call on Holly Mountain Road. After arriving at the residence deputies spoke with the victim and witnesses at the incident location. After a brief investigation deputies arrested 44 year old Earl J. Bonds III of Clinton. Bonds was charged with Battery in the 3rd degree. Bonds later bonded.

Press Release 08/07/2017 Clinton man arrested for possession of illegal drugs. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 7th, 2017, Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office made a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputies made contact with the driver of the vehicle at his residence and found the driver to have a warrant for his arrest. During the arrest deputies found that the suspect had in his possession illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Deputies arrested 39 year old Michael Fritts of Clinton. Fritts was charged with misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Fritts warrant was for Violation of Oder of Protection. Fritts later bonded on his charges.

Press Release 08/01/2017 Arkansas State Police arrest Missouri man and woman after fleeing. From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley On August 1st, 2017, around noon, Troopers from the Arkansas State Police made a traffic stopped on two vehicles, one of the vehicles being a erratic driver on South Highway 65. The occupants of both vehicles after being stopped fled on foot from the Trooper. Assisted by Damascus Police and Van Buren County Deputies, later apprehended the two fleeing suspects. After identifying the suspects 23 year old Wesley E. Morgan of Springfield, MO and 18 year old Ashlyn Nicole Edmonds of Sparta, MO, it was found that one of the vehicle was stolen out of MO and during the inventory of the other vehicle found illegal drug paraphernalia and a weapon. Both Morgan and Edmonds is being charged with felony Theft by Receiving, felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, misdemeanor Fleeing, and Speeding. Both are being held at the Van Buren County Detention Center on $5000.00 bond and Edmonds has a hold from MO on felony charges.
