On Thursday, Rancho Santa Fe Elementary School held its Veteran’s Day and First Responder Celebration and Program. Avondale officers and local military personnel arrived at school to welcome students arriving on campus to begin their day. Boy Scout Troop #124 participated in the flag raising and Raceway Elks conducted a flag presentation. #ServingWithHonor

This past week, Officer Leonard Espinoza was awarded Employee of the Month by the staff at Westview High School. Officer Espinoza has spent the past several years at the high school as their School Resource Officer. Also pictured are school principal, Dr. John S. Our newest therapy dog Abby and her handler Marcy, received their official PIPS (Pets in Police Service) vest from Chief Nannenga and Assistant Chief Parkin. Abby is the 6th therapy dog to join our PIPS program. Welcome Marcy and Abby! #APDCares

Today has been declared Law Enforcement Records Personnel Appreciation Day in the State of Arizona. We would like to thank our Records Bureau for all of their hard work! #AppreciationDay

On Monday, the police department participated in Corte Sierra Elementary School’s Second Annual Honor Walk.The event was held at the school where students and staff honor our active and retired military, fire fighters, and law enforcement. Go Falcons. #APDCares

The Avondale Police Department is partnering with CrossFit Rave to bring you "Rage at Rave" a team competition benefiting Special Olympics Arizona. Teams will be comprised of 4 persons, 2 male, 2 female. Next week we are wrapping up our 2017 Citizen Police Academy. It has been a great session! On July 27th, 2017, Mom Tori gave birth to Baby Aiden in her home, unplanned. Aiden did not have a pulse and was not breathing voluntarily. Tori called 911 and CPR was initiated by Officers Linda Karel, Joseph Buggy and Beau Wagner on their arrival. Aiden was transported to the hospital were he was treated and stabilized. This is Aiden and Officer Karel this week. As you can see Aiden is doing great! Fantastic service Officer Karel, Officer Buggy and Officer Wagner. #APDCares

Yesterday, the police department, in conjunction with Fry’s Food Stores, held a fundraiser at the Fry’s Fuel Center at Thomas and Dysart Rd. in order to raise money for the Arizona Special Olympics. Over $500 was raised and will go directly to the Special Olympics program. #APDCares #SpecialOlympics
