Abby, one of our new PIPS (Pets in Police Service) therapy dogs, wants to remind all pet parents that high heat temperatures can be dangerous for animals. Make sure you take your walks when the cement/asphalt aren’t so hot or get your pet a great pair of animal booties! Have lots of drinking water available and a comfortable shaded rest area for your pets. Remember, if your pets want to take a dip in the pool to cool off, make sure you rinse them off afterwards….chlorine can be hard on your pet’s skin. #APDCares #PetHeatSafety

Remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

In recent weeks the Avondale Police Department has seen an increase in credit card skimmer frauds at local gas pumps. This type of skimmer is designed to be attached to the inside of the gas pump, and often times victims do not even know the device is attached. A suspect is able to gain personal credit/debit card information, along with pin codes. The Avondale Police Department reminds citizens to be aware when using credit/debit cards at gas pumps and to report any suspicious devices or obvious tampering with the card reader or the gas pumps. The following photos show examples of seals both untampered and tampered as an example of what to look for as a consumer purchasing gas at a pump. #ProtectYourInfo #APDCares

On behalf of the Avondale Police Department we wanted to thank everyone who sponsored, participated, and volunteered in this year’s Special Olympics of Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run! In addition to our regular silent auction, shirt sales, and in-kind donations, our Chief issued a special challenge to our department, in which he and select members of our Command staff would run in dinosaur costumes if we met an additional fund raising goal. This was a huge success, and we raised over $4805 in total with all combined fund raising efforts. We are grateful to all those who supported this event, helped raise awareness for the Special Olympics or Arizona, and completed another positive RUN for the Athletes. #APDCares
