Last weekend our School Resource Officers participated in the BE SAFE training program being sponsored by Wigwam Creek Middle School. This is a program that is specifically aimed towards bringing the special education community together with law enforcement officers to help educate and train special needs students on how to best interact with the police. It is also an opportunity for police officers to learn more about students with special needs, and especially those whose disabilities are not always immediately evident. #BESAFE #APDCares

Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinets: Dispose Unwanted Prescription Drugs at our Spring Drug Disposal Event. The event on Saturday, April 28th will provide people a place to dispose of medication safely. The Avondale Police Department and the DEA will hand out information on the dangers of prescription drugs and how to dispose of the drugs properly. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. All pills, capsules, tablets will be accepted, excluding glass containers. Liquid medications, inhalers, syringes or other items used to inject medication will not be accepted under current DEA guidelines. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative. Drug Disposal Event Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Date: Saturday, April 28, 2018 Location: CVS Pharmacy, 280 N.
