On May 16th the Scottsdale Police Mounted Unit went to Cocopah Middle School to visit with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders during their three lunch periods. The students asked a lot of questions and got to pet the horses. On May 17th the Unit went to Desert Mountain High School to present to the Criminal Justice Class students about the Mounted Units function and responsibilities. Zeus, Tug, and Grayhawk were a big hit at both schools.

This week the Scottsdale Police Mounted Unit welcomed their newest team member, Wrangler Kim Oest. Kim has been a Scottsdale resident for 11 years, is a certified Vet Tech, and has 6 of her own horses she trains, rides, and cares for. We are teaming up with Grimaldi's for a Tip A Cop event next Thursday May 24th from 4:30pm - 8:30pm at all three Scottsdale locations. (Grimaldi's, Grimaldi's, and Grimaldi's.) In an effort to raise money and increase awareness for Special Olympics Arizona, SPD officers will be assisting Grimaldi's staff. KNIX Country 102.5 morning show hosts (Tim, Ben & Brooke & Knix Barrelboy) will be giving away 2 pairs of Secret Show Concert tickets at each Scottsdale Grimaldi's. Donald Stombres was last seen at 7:00am on May 15, 2018 when he left his home in the 7600 block of E Aster Dr, Scottsdale. Mr. Stombres is a white male, age 75, 6 feet tall, 190 Lbs. He has gray hair and walks with a limp. He was last seen wearing jeans, unknown colored shirt, and yellow ball cap. He is believed to be driving a gray Dodge Ram 4dr truck Az Plate AHJ3894.
