IT'S TOWN HALL MEETING TIME! Join us at VETERAN'S COMMUNITY CENTER on TUESDAY, MARCH 13th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It is an open forum to discuss any questions or concerns related to public safety in our community. WE VALUE YOUR THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS! MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY! We'll be serving sandwiches and beverages.

Chief Kimble celebrated "Dr. Seuss' Read Across America Day" at Kern Avenue Elementary School by reading a fun book to Mrs. Cantu's kindergarten class! The student's were full of energy and smiles! Chief had lots of fun. It was even more special because the children surprised Chief with his very own birthday cake!

Chief Scot Kimble was so excited to read to the students in Ms. Muñoz' head start class at Browning Road School today. It is Dr. Suess Read Across America Week. The kids were so awesome! They listened and asked great questions. What a fun class of future champions!

We had a terrific time at last night's Coffee with the Cop! LOT'S OF GREAT CONVERSATION'S, SMILES, AND LAUGHS! Thank you McDonald's for hosting the event! The coffee and cookies were delicious!! We look forward to seeing everyone at our next event!

Judge Robin Wolfe and Chief Scot Kimble after she was sworn in yesterday as the newest Superior Court Judge in Tulare County. WE CONGRATULATE JUDGE WOLFE ON THIS GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT! We are so proud of her and honored to have her as a Judge in the State of California.

It's almost here!! Our next "COFFEE WITH A COP" event will take place on Tuesday, February 6th at McDonald's located at 101 W. Sherwood Avenue. This event starts at 5:30 p.m! Everyone is invited!! Don't miss out!!

Today we had a special visit by staff from the Kern Avenue State Preschool. They are participating in an "Act of Kindness Challenge". This week they are recognizing McFarland Police Department Officers for always taking time to acknowledge the children at the preschool and making them smile. Mrs. Nunez and Mrs. Tovar, the staff at MPD thank you for recognizing us, and for the nutrition bars!

We enjoyed the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Kern County Family Justice Center located at 2101 Oak Street in Bakersfield. It is a wonderful facility and it will provide valuable resources and services for crime victims. On Friday, December 22nd, Chief Scot Kimble, MPD Officers, Mayor Cantu, and volunteers headed out in a caravan to deliver heavy bags of groceries to McFarland residents. McFarland Police Department sponsors this event every year with the generous help of donors. Thank you to everyone for your support!

A convoy of vehicles escorted Santa Claus through the City of McFarland on Thursday, December 21st, officially launching Operation Christmas 2017! We sang Christmas carols, delivered toys and gift cards, and handed out candy! Santa, Chief Scot Kimble, McFarland Police Officers, along with Mayor Cantu, Councilmember Melendez and volunteers enjoyed sharing the spirit of Christmas with many, many children throughout the community!

On Monday, December 18th, McFarland Police Department partnered with Walmart in Wasco to host our 2nd Annual "Shop with a Cop" event and brightened the holidays for 20 children! It was a wonderful event, with Santa making an appearance, a pizza party, and lots of joy and laughter! A big thank you to all our donors and to Walmart-Wasco for making the "Shop with a Cop" experience special for the youth of McFarland!

With hundreds watching, high school bands, floats, dancers, and others paraded down the streets of McFarland on December 16th for the annual Christmas parade! This year, the Festival Committee honored the McFarland Lion's Club as the Grand Marshal of the parade for their volunteer work and tireless contribution to the community. Thank you to all volunteers who helped build the McFarland Police Department float and hopped on to the MPD Polar Express! We appreciate you!

Merry Christmas! It's been a busy week in McFarland -- Christmas Parade, Shop with a Cop, Operation Christmas Toy and Food Giveaway! Look for additional photos to be posted soon!

We partner with the church every month to help distribute food to less fortunate folks. Chief Kimble was also able to help today! He had fun handing out ice cream to everyone waiting in line.

We felt privileged to deliver food baskets to several families in McFarland. We were honored to spend time with these families and wished them a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you to North Kern State Prison and Warden Santoro for your support in your donations to help make this possible! Thank you to the anonymous donors for your support as well.

We would like to mention and honor our four Veterans at the McFarland Police Department. Officer Christopher Rivera is still serving as a Reserve in the United States Army. Corporal Charles Hankins served in the United States Army. Officer Jesus Trinidad served in the United States Marine Corps. Officer Jose Renteria served in the United States Marine Corps. Happy Veteran’s Day to all of you. We appreciate what they have done for our country. We appreciate what they do now as law enforcement officers for the City of McFarland. We also would like to wish all of the Veterans a HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY and thank them for their service and sacrifices. God Bless America. We are thankful for our freedom here in the United States.

Our 5th Annual Cops and Candy Fall Festival held on October 30th proved to be a success! Thousands of people took part in this event! Fun was had by all! Games, candy, hot dogs, cotton candy, and contests kept everyone in a festive mood! Entire families came dressed in their costumes! Thank you to the sponsors, service clubs, trunk-o-treat vehicles, and volunteers! You made this community event extra special! We’re looking forward to next year!

Yesterday we had a surprise visit by staff and students from the Browning Road State Preschool. They brought our officers gift boxes to show their appreciation for staff who recently spent time in two of their classes. Staff, which included Sergeant Place, Officer Herrera, and Cristina Gonzalez, spoke to students about safety, their jobs as police officers, and gave them a tour of a police car and all their duty gear. The staff at MPD thanks you for the generous gifts and the opportunity for our officers to spend time with members and youth of our community.

BRING THE ENTIRE FAMILY TO OUR 5TH ANNUAL COPS AND CANDY EVENT! ** This safe and fun family event will take place on Monday, October 30th at 401 West Kern Avenue in front of the City Hall and Police Department complex. We invite everyone to attend, have fun, get candy, play games, enter contests, win prizes, and enjoy complimentary beverages and food! We want to remind everyone that our intent is to spend quality time with the Community and create an environment for families and their children to participate in a safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating.
