Happy #FantasticFriday! It's a great day for our followers to meet one of our finest & know a little bit more about the men and women of #LASchoolPolice. Today we will feature Police Officer Galdamez. Officer Galdamez is unique because he is passionate about being an Officer but his other passion is art! He is an artist specializing in drawing caricatures. Q: How did you get into caricature art? A: “On my way home from school, I would stop by the comic book store and buy a batman or Spider-Man comic. I read them and tried to mimic the artist technic. I got numerous art awards during high school. After high school, at every job I had; I somehow always ended up doodling my co-workers.” • Q: How long have you been a Police Officer? A: “10 years and before that I was a School Safety Officer for 10 years. That’s a 20 year total in the School Police family.” • Q: When did you start drawing caricatures of Officers? A: “As soon as I came on to department. I began to draw and sketch the officers I worked with. They all enjoyed being part of a fun sketch and comic like characters." • Q: Did you begin drawing professionally after? A: “In time I had requests from officers asking me to draw them. If you visit the assignments I’ve worked and talk to officers I worked with, chances are I drew them.” • Q: What are officers common reactions after they see themselves in your work? A: “They love it, most of them anyway!” • Q: What have you been working on lately? A: “This year I have been busy drawing caricature retirement portraits for officers. The drawings vary from water color to pencil sketch.” • Q: How can Officers or anyone else that wishes to have a caricature of them drawn reach you? A: “I recently created an IG account. Anyone interested can contact me @Galdiesketch” • Q: Lastly, If you could have one superpower, what would it be? A: “It would be speed!”
