During the past school year, we had a rash of overnight burglaries into classrooms where laptops and tablets were stolen. Forensic evidence collected helped us identify a 17-year-old Whittier resident as a burglary suspect where laptops totaling about $3500 were stolen. We didn't have to look too far to charge this suspect, as he was already in custody for a separate burglary. #whittierpd

Last night, at about 9:30pm a 17-year-old female resident, who was home alone on the 8400 block of Verdosa Dr., was confronted by an unknown adult male. It appears he entered through the unlocked front door with his dog, which was on a leash. As soon as he entered, he was challenged by the teen and then locked himself in the bathroom with the dog. When police arrived the male suspect was found in the backyard and taken into custody. Nothing was taken nor was anyone hurt and there were no weapons involved. The male was booked on burglary charges and after the detectives interviewed him, he was released to a local facility and undergoing a mental health evaluation to determine the need for mental health treatment. Charges will be sought in the Bellflower court for burglary on 18-yr-old Semisi Schultz. #whittierpd

Using our graffiti tracking technology and our partnership with the graffiti removal crew from Public Works, our special enforcement team identified and followed Garcia.
