Our APD homicide detectives have identified Mark Lawrence Jennings, a 46 year old Anaheim resident, as the suspect arrested for killing his girlfriend early Wednesday morning. Around 7:30 am, Wednesday morning, Anaheim Police responded to a call from Jennings stating he thought he had killed his girlfriend. Officers found Jennings sitting in the driveway of his residence at 895 S. Cardiff Street. Jennings said his girlfriend was probably deceased inside the residence and that he had opened a gas line inside. Personnel from Anaheim Fire And Rescue and Anaheim PD made immediate entry and found 40 year old Beverly Millard deceased inside. There was no evidence a gas line had been turned on. While detectives have not released the cause of death, they have declared Millard’s death a homicide. Millard resided at the residence with Jennings who was arrested at the scene without incident. He was later booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility for one count of murder. Jennings is being held at Orange County Jail on $1,000,000 bail.

The Memorial 5K Run is a tradition for all classes of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, CA Academy to honor & pay tribute to the service of fallen officers. Today’s run was in honor of fallen Costa Mesa Police Department Officers James Ketchum & John “Mike” Libolt who died in a #lineofduty crash of the CMPD helicopter March 10, 1987 while providing air support to a vehicle pursuit. We join with the Public Safety Community of Southern CA in grieving the shocking #lineofduty shooting death, early yesterday morning, of Long Beach Fire Department Captain David Rosa, a 17 year veteran. Early Monday, around 4am, firefighters responded to an 11-story retirement home where reports indicated an explosion & fire. Those first on scene did find a fire and windows blown out & sprinklers activated. After extinguishing the fire, they smelled gasoline & began a building search. During the search of the facility, Captain Dave Rosa, age 45, was fatally shot and firefighter Ernesto Torres, age 35 was shot & injured. A third person, a resident of the retirement facility, was also injured and remains in critical but stable condition. A 77 year old resident was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and arson. Investigators believe the suspect-resident intentionally set a fire to draw the firefighters there. Captain Rosa is the first firefighter to be killed on duty since 1974. He is survived by his wife, Lynley and two sons – Alec, age 25 and Samuel, age 16 as well as his mother. He is remembered as being “well-loved in Long Beach amongst his peers but also in the community as well.” Captain Rosa often acted as a mentor to new firefighters and paramedics. Rest in Peace Captain Rosa – your commitment & dedication to your community will not be forgotten. We send our best wishes for Firefighter Torres & the civilian also injured to make full recoveries.

Our belated condolences to the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department in Kansas on the #lineofduty murders of their Deputies Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer during transport of a murder suspect to the courthouse on June 15th. Late morning on Friday, as deputies were moving the prisoner from the county jail to the transport vehicle the suspect overpowered & managed to get one of their guns. The suspect subsequently shot them both, but not before one of the Deputies was able to return fire & injure the suspect. Deputy Rohrer, age 35, died shortly after arrival at the hospital on Friday. Deputy King, age 44, succumbed to her injuries at approximately 2am Saturday. The shooter was going to court for a hearing on pending robbery charges. He is also facing first-degree murder charges of a woman & attempted murder of her friend from December of 2017. Previously, court documents also show the suspect was previously charged with another first degree murder in June of 2015, but two trials resulted in both juries being hung, resulting in mistrials. Deputy Theresa King, known as “TK,” was a 13 year veteran. A single mother, she leaves behind 2 young adult children & a 7 year old daughter who will now be raised by her brother & his wife. Deputy King had just been promoted to School Resource Officer and was looking forward to the assignment that would often place her at her daughter’s school. She is remembered for her very caring nature & for reaching out to younger officers to help & guide them. Deputy Patrick Rohrer was a 7 year veteran of WCSO. As a married father of 2 young children, he leaves behind his wife – Sarah and children-Emma & Conner. Deputy Rohrer was an Eagle Scout who is remembered as a generous friend who “always made other want to be better.” Known as a “jokester-geek,” he enjoyed attending Comic-con & playing video games with family & friends. Rest in Peace to our brother & sister – you will not be forgotten.
