Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder On June 20, 2018, at approximately 11:45 A.M. Detectives from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, in collaboration with the Coachella Valley Violent Crimes Gang Task Force located and arrested 22-year-old Guillermo Rodriguez-Lara for PC 664-187(a) - Attempted Murder in the City of Indio. Rodriguez-Lara was the suspected shooter following an altercation that occurred in Desert Hot Springs on June 19, 2018. Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Palm Drive and Ironwood Avenue at approximately 6:00 A.M. on June 19, 2018 following reports that a male juvenile had been shot during an altercation. The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. Detectives immediately began their investigation into the incident and quickly identified Guillermo Rodriguez-Lara as their sole-suspect. Due to good Detective work, Rodriguez-Lara was taken into custody without incident within 29 hours of the initial crime occurring. During the investigation, Detectives determined that the shooting was gang related, so additional charges and enhancements will be filed on Rodriguez-Lara. Suspect Arrested Following Honey Oil Lab Explosion On Monday, June 18, 2018, Officers from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department arrested 26-year-old Tyler Lee Ropac on multiple charges following an explosion and subsequent residential fire in the 65900 block of Desert View in Desert Hot Springs. Officers arrived on scene at approximately 12:15 PM on June 18, 2018 to begin their investigation into the source of the explosion. During this investigation Officers determined that Tyler Lee Ropac was operating an illegal β€œHoney Oil Lab” within the residence. Desert Hot Springs Detectives along with the Riverside County Sherriff’s Departments - Marijuana Enforcement Team investigated the illegal operation and located evidence as well as numerous firearms. No injuries were reported as a result of the explosion or subsequent fire, however, one dog was found deceased inside the home. Ropac was arrested and booked into RSO Banning Jail on the following charges; β€’ H&S 11379.6 – Operating a Clandestine Laboratory β€’ PC 451 – Arson β€’ PC 273A(A) – Child Endangerment β€’ PC 597(A) – Cruelty to Animals #DHSPD #DesertHotSprings

ARREST - Attempted Murder On Monday, June 11, 2018, Detectives from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, with assistance from the PACT Team, located and arrested 33-year-old Jeffrey Grant Hammer, Jr. for Attempt Murder. Officers had been pursuing Hammer following a shooting that occurred in Desert Hot Springs yesterday afternoon that sent one victim to the hospital. At approximately 10:12 AM today Detectives received information that the suspect was hiding at a location in the 66300 block of Seventh Street. Officers arrived at that location, and with the assistance of the PACT Team took the suspect into custody without incident. There are no other suspects in this case. Jeffrey Hammer was booked into the RSO Banning Jail for PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bail. Hammer was the suspected shooter in an incident that occurred on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the 66700 Block of Eighth Street in Desert Hot Springs. Officers were dispatched to this location following reports of shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
