La Mesa Police Department News

Congratulations to Officer Keys! He graduated from the Police Academy and was assigned to patrol this weekend. Welcome aboard.

It was good to see so many familiar faces, past and present, at Tom's Celebration. Here is a copy of the Memorial Video we played during his eulogy.

Not a Memorial but a Celebration! Exactly the way Tommy would've wanted it. For family, friends, and co-workers. Hope to see you there.

Officer Tom Ruth (Retired 2009) was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom's wife during this difficult time. He will never be forgotten. *This picture was just taken 2 weeks ago watching Sunday football.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the first responders in Northern California.

Off. Purdy and Off. Wilson will compete in the SDCMOA Motorcycle Competition, tomorrow 9/23 at 8a, Silver Strand State Beach. Come watch them ride...they look sharp.

God Bless Texas

The LMPOA sends its condolences to the men and women of the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Rob Rumfelt was killed in the line-of-duty when his patrol car crashed as he returned from a radio call.

Finished out the Shop with a Cop tournament with a win against Probation and a loss against SDPD (they cheated-lol!) Good times.

Shop with a Cop Softball Tournament Day #1. LMPOA "On The Run" goes 2-0 with victories over the FBI 8-6 and SDSO 16-7

La Mesa PD's Blood Drive was a huge success! Thank you for donating!

The La Mesa Police Department will be hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 10:00 am to 3:15 pm, here at the Police Department, in the Community Room (8085 University Ave. La Mesa). The blood drive is sponsored by the San Diego Blood Bank. Donations are being accepted in honor of Officer Brad Hunter, of the Oceanside Police Department. Officer Hunter was injured in the line-of-duty earlier this year when he was intentionally hit by a driver while he was conducting a traffic stop. Officer Hunter underwent major reconstructive surgery in an effort to save his leg. Blood donations played a huge role in these surgeries and his recovery efforts. In an attempt to create something positive out of this very difficult situation, Officer Hunter and his family encourage blood drives in an effort to help other trauma victims. As such the La Mesa Police Department is doing our part by hosting this blood drive and we hope that you will join us by making a donation. Please use the link below to schedule your donation time. Thank you. *Scheduled appointments are preferred and encouraged

Please join us tonight for National Night Out.

Another great night of baseball at the 2017 LMPOA Summer Picnic

15 days ago Travis (16 yrs) got on his bike at the California/Oregon State line. Today he will finish his ride, 1000 miles later at the California/Mexico border. Earlier, Travis stopped by the San Diego County Law Enforcement Memorial where Lt. Stoney meet him, thanked him for what he was doing and gave him a LMPD patch and Challenge Coin. A Ride to Support Fallen Police Officers will raise awareness and funds for the California Peace Officer Memorial. Impressive young man!
