We here at the Fruita Police Department need to give a well-deserved thanks to the crew at the Over the Edge and the Fruita Thrift Shop. For the fifth year in a row, the awesome guys at Over the Edge have donated their skills and time to fix up children's bicycles being donated to the Rim Rock Angel Tree program. This program provides Christmas gifts to those families with children needing a little extra help during the holiday season. These bikes will end up with some lucky kids this year! A special thanks is also deserved to the Fruita Thrift Shop for generously donating some of these bikes to the program. The Fruita Thrift Shop has donated to our community countless times and we greatly appreciate their generosity! This is a great example of a collaborative community effort to help provide some children with a Merry Christmas!

UPDATE: Owner located, he's been returned. This guy was turned into our office this morning. If you know where he belongs please give us a call at (970) 242-6707

We have seen an increase in theft from vehicles as the holidays are approaching. Here are a few reminders to help prevent this from happening to you: - Lock your car doors! Almost all thefts occur when the vehicle is left unlocked. - Leave outside lights on. Criminals do not want anyone to see them. - Keep the inside of your car cleaned out. If you have to store valuables in your car, please keep them in the trunk. - If you see or hear anything suspicious, please call 9-1-1 or non-emergency dispatch immediately! If it doesn't seem right, listen to your gut. Also, do not confront someone before calling 9-1-1. It will only give them time to run away and hide before police can respond. Please have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.

The City of Fruita has once again partnered with the Backpack Program to provide bags of nonperishable food for children in need during the holiday breaks. There will be three pickup locations during the Thanksgiving and Christmas break; Fruita Police Department, Fruita Community Center and the Civic Center. Please spread the word if you know of anyone in need. Contact the Fruita Police Department if you have any questions (858-3008).

Join us on Aspen St from 3-5. Please drive careful and watch for the ghosts and goblins!
