***ARREST MADE IN FRUITA ROBBERY*** On 08/25/2017, Officers with the Fruita Police Department, assisted by members of the Western Colorado Drug Task Force and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit, executed an arrest warrant for Jason Berger, 32, one of two alleged suspects involved in the August 14th robbery at the Fruita Co-Op. Jason was taken into custody at his residence, 152 N Coulson Street, Fruita, Colorado and charged with the following criminal offenses: • Robbery, a Class 4 Felony. • Vehicular Eluding, a Class 5 Felony. • Assault in the Third Degree, a Class 1 Misdemeanor. • Obstructing a Peace Officer, a Class 2 Misdemeanor. During the execution of the arrest warrant, several other subjects were arrested for various outstanding warrants and other criminal offenses: • Erin Renee Archuleta, 21, was arrested for an outstanding warrant for failure to comply on narcotics charges. • Krystal McKelvey, 32, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute < 1/2oz of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Drug Felony and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a Class 4 Drug Felony.

***ROBBERY AT FRUITA CO-OP*** On Monday, August 14, 2017 about 7 p.m. two males attempted to leave the business without paying for items concealed in their clothing. When store employees approached them, a struggle ensued and two employees were injured. The suspects then left the business in a vehicle and a pursuit with law enforcement started in the Loma area and ended in the Utah desert. The suspect in the gray T shirt and jeans was located and arrested in the Utah desert late that night. The subject wearing the #33 jersey and shorts was not located. On August 15, the suspect was walking in the desert when he was picked up by a truck driver. He was dropped off at 8 a.m. at the Fruita Co-Op by the truck driver who later called law enforcement after being suspicious. The suspect was wearing the same clothes and was last seen walking in front of the Fruita True Value eastbound on the sidewalk. The suspect is described as 5’10” tall, 150-170 pounds. BEAR ACTIVITY: There have been a small number of reported bear sightings in the area of the Little Salt Wash. At this time there have been no significant encounters but we wanted to make our citizens aware of this activity. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has been notified.
