🚧🚨🚧🚨Construction Warning🚨🚧🚨🚧 A third construction project started this week inside Starke city limits that is scheduled for the next 140 days (March 2018) on West Madison Street from Orange Street to South Water Street and SE 144th Street (Mullins Grade) from the hours of 8am to approximately 5:30pm. The construction will include repaving of the roads and will require a daily lane closure. Please use caution when traveling any construction zones. Also, a reminder that part of this construction includes a railroad crossing and there have been several complaints regarding traffic stopping on the railroad tracks. Remember to pay close attention to the traffic in front of you and allow adequate space between vehicles. If there is not enough room, please do not risk the chance of getting caught on the railroad tracks. We understand that the increased construction adds minutes to your daily route, so please be patient and allow enough time in your travels. As always, we are asking for our followers to share this post throughout the community so that everyone is aware and travels safely. Thank you! #StarkePD

The Starke Police Department and Chief Jeff Johnson are deeply saddened by the loss of a special man who dedicated so many years of his life to the service of his Lawtey Community. Chief Jordan will be missed. We would like to offer prayers to his family for comfort and peace through this time.

Chief Jeff Johnson often speaks of how proud he is of his officers in the performance of their daily duties and responsibilities. Today he wanted to share this 'Life Saving' effort and recognition with you. "Great job Officer Logan Hough."

'FLIPPING' The Starke Police Department and Chief Jeff Johnson would like to kindly remind the citizens of Starke to 'Help us Prevent Crime'. We have seen a recent increase in vehicle burglaries to unlocked vehicles. These vehicle burglaries are crimes of opportunity (UNLOCKED) vehicles, that provide the criminal with the opportunity to enter your vehicle with minimal sound, alert or attention. This criminal practice is known as 'Flipping'. Why smash a window and make all that noise, or take the time to manipulate a locking device, when all one needs to do is "Flip" the door handle, open the door, reach inside or sit in the vehicle and help themselves to your valuables. Don't give them that chance. Lock your car doors anytime you are away from your vehicle. Make it part of your daily routine to double check your vehicle locks when it is time to settle in at home. Be aware, be proactive, be secure. If you observe someone walking in and out of driveways, between houses, in between vehicles throughout a parking lot, call dispatch at (904)966-6161 and let us respond to check your suspicions.

Be aware. Be prepared.

The 2017 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, Labor Day Enforcement Wave runs from August 16th through September 4th, 2017. This is a high-visibility national enforcement campaign with a zero tolerance for drunk driving. Don't Risk Your Life or Jeopardize the Lives of Others.

Chief Jeff Johnson and the Starke Police Department are proud to welcome back our dedicated and experienced School Crossing Guard. Thank you Joe Gordon for helping our children get to school safe.
