The Marianna Police Department is currently working a vehicle burglary that occurred at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center on 10/19/2017. Investigators were able to obtain a suspect and a vehicle description the suspect was last seen in. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your Trick-or-Treating adventures ~ *Be sure an adult accompanies children at all times * Carry flashlights with fresh batteries, and never use candles or torches *Stay on sidewalks, if available, or walk on the side of the street that faces oncoming traffic *Think carefully of your route and timetable before departing *If you are driving at night, be on the lookout for Trick-or-Treater. Use extreme caution and drive slowly *Be certain that all Trick-or-Treaters can be see easily. Costumes should be brightly colored or white, and reflective. Kids love glow-sticks nearly as much as they love candy.

MPD would like to thank everyone who has pitched in to help during Hurricane Irma. From the officers and dispatchers who left their families to protect the citizens of Marianna, Marianna Fire and Rescue who with us every step of the way, the City of Marianna Street Department who were constantly clearing debris, the Jackson County School Board (members, Superintendent Moore and employees), Chipola College, Red Cross and all the community volunteers and Florida Public Utilities (especially the lineman still hard at work trying to restore everyone's power). It is great to live in a community that rallies around each other!! While the bulk of the weather is over, there are still hazards because of wind, rain and debris. Please be careful!!

What a great community we live in!! Marianna High School evacuation shelter is full of local volunteers giving their time to help those in need.

MPD had been asked to broadcast the message below regarding the Family Dollar Distribution Center. We will post messages as long as the do not interfere with getting life saving information out. Family Dollar Distribution Center in Marianna, Florida will be closed tonight for 3rd Shift and tomorrow for 1st and 2nd Shifts due to Hurricane Irma. We will resume normal operation tomorrow night, Monday 9/11/17, at 11PM.

Although Hurricane Irma has not yet made it to our area, wind gusts are already causing damage. This Jackson Street. Please be careful during this upcoming weather event and keep those working in it in your thoughts.
