Our officers aren't just here to serve the law, but to impact lives. Officer Lantigua's testament is proof of that! "Every once in a while in this line of work, you really feel good about the impact you were in someone's life. I'm sure we impact many people and never hear about it, but this is one case where I did. Kenneth was a homeless alcoholic/drug addict that was being arrested daily and was deteriorating rapidly. He would get into fights and was always verbally abusive towards officers. My partner and I, took a liking towards Kenneth and decided that we won't let him die on the streets. I petitioned for him, through the courts, to get the help that he desperately needed. Long story short, I met with Kenneth yesterday at his apartment. He told me that we saved his life. He had accepted the fact that he was meant to live and die on the streets. Kenneth has started a new life. He's now sober and off the streets. I'm very happy for him and that I was a huge part of what he calls 'saving his life.'" Our Homeless Resource Officers saw that Kenneth would benefit from a new program we have implemented, as he was placed in the Marchman Act Program. We're are happy that we didn't give up on him, and we will continue to support him.
