NPPD and NPFR units are working another motorcycle crash on Panacea Blvd. near Woodland Middle School. Two bikes involved. Both travel directions are currently blocked. Some of the injuries are serious, none appear life threatening.

This is how much our Volunteer Service Aides mean to our Officers and community. “Just wanted to give a shout out to the VSA’s that helped with traffic control on an accident yesterday. They got soaked during the 45 minute downpour. They did a great job with traffic and made sure we were able to focus on the accident. I really appreciate all they do for us!” Officer Heather Cooley

85 in a 40 on Woodhaven today. More than double over=not good. Obviously not a follower on our social media. Above 30 miles per hour over is a mandatory court date. A judge will determine fine based on previous driving record. Again, we get almost nothing per ticket. Just slow down, please, please. #comeonman

Detectives are investigating a sexual battery case which occurred Monday night near Atwater Dr. This was not a random act and the suspect is accounted for. No threat to the community.

Have we mentioned Woodhaven Drive and enforcement? Despite repeated notices and sign boards saying to watch your speed along the stretch, drivers are not getting it. 63 in a 40 will get ya a cool $281 ticket of which we see almost nothing. We don't want to give tickets.. #slowdown

FACT NEWS: Since we were called to the scene, the North Port Police Department has worked diligently to gather FACTS and EVIDENCE surrounding the John Ludwick stabbing and death. This includes immediate interviews, crime scene forensics, independent first hand witnesses, sworn written statements, initial autopsy results, and just good old fashioned experience. Nothing which we have reported so far has changed. We aware of a “theory” that others may have been involved in Mr. Ludwick’s death. Initial thoughts (without FACTS) by someone who has been interviewed by federal authorities and found not to be credible, due in part to multiple contradictory statements. There is absolutely no EVIDENCE at this time that anyone other than the woman Mr. Ludwick attacked was involved. Of course we are always open to new and additional FACTUAL tips and information. If you have any FACTS or EVIDENCE, please let us know and we will investigate. #FACTS #EVIDENCE

The correct authorities who are working that case have been notified. Our investigation in this local case is ongoing. Currently, there are no reports yet available. We will provide when they are. UPDATE 1: One person is now deceased. Early in this investigation it appears that the male subject who has passed was attempting to kidnap a young woman as she exited her vehicle in her driveway. They are familiar with each other. A struggle ensued and he is the one who ended up stabbed. He then fled the area on foot. He was found nearby suffering from the stab wounds. After being transported by air he was pronounced dead at a local hospital. This investigation is ongoing. More details as they become available. The roadways are now open. Investigation continues.
