Here are some still photos...On January 20, 2018 at 9:45 p.m. a robbery occurred at Little Caesars Pizza located on S. Ridgewood Avenue in Edgewater. After placing an order, the offender grabbed the cash tray from the open cash register and fled the restaurant. The offender committed an additional robbery in Holly Hill. Photos from both incidents are below. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Edgewater Police Dispatch at 386-424-2000 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).

EPD arrested Sarah M. Wells on December 21, 2017 for felony animal cruelty. The dog is named Adonis and he is currently receiving veterinarian care. We hope he is able to make a full recovery.

EPD’s officers have been working diligently on the attempt to steal Christmas incident, Case #12-25-2017. Our Detective Division located a hair on scene and the crime lab results are back. It’s the Grinch! And yes, we know he’s a mean one! Rest easy though, EPD officers will find him before he steals Christmas. Thank you to the students of the New Smryna Beach High School Digital Video Production Program for putting together this video documentary of the investigation. Attention all citizens! A mean, green, furry, grumpy, anti-holiday recluse has set his sights on the City of Edgewater and has attempted to steal Christmas! The men and women of EPD responded to City Hall and are currently investigating. Will the citizens of Edgewater be without Christmas? Will EPD solve this heinous crime? In an effort to keep you up to date with video documentation of our investigation we have teamed up with the students of the Digital Video Production Program of New Smyrna Beach High School. The missing adult, Marshall Gibbs Miller, has been located and is safe.

Please keep an eye out for Marshall Gibbs Miller, age 76, missing from the 1400 block of Sabal Palm Drive since this morning.

Officers Geiger and Koehler joined in on the fun at the # hugs not hate 700+ rock hide/paint event at Rotary Park this morning. Officer Geiger's K-9 partner even got in on the fun!

Chief Arcieri and several officers joined dozens from our community this morning as guest readers at Edgewater Public School. The entire school will be reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio and discussing and sharing across the campus about how kindness matters.

We are asking the public to keep an eye out for Geraldine Hamel who left her home in Edgewater today and has been reported missing.

We would like to thank the Edgewater/NSB Lodge #1557 for the delicious appreciation lunch for first responders!

***Update*** The offender has been identified as John H. Johnson of New Smyrna Beach and will be charged accordingly. Thank you for your assistance! EPD is seeking the identification of this male and female who were in the company of each other at the Marathon Gas Station at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 5th. ***It must be noted we have already eliminated Ralph Macchio aka “The Karate Kid” as a suspect due to the very unimpressive kicking posture*** The male, after urinating in the parking lot, committed vandalism to the motorcycle. They left in a dark colored Ford F-150 or utility vehicle that was driven by the female. The Marathon Gas Station is located at the intersection of S. Ridgewood Avenue and W. Ocean Avenue. If you have any information regarding their identity contact EPD at 386-424-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-277-TIPS (8477).

***Identification Needed*** EPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying this thief who burglarized the Marathon Gas Station during the early morning hours of Saturday, November 4th. A couple of unique things that may help to identify him: (1) A significant amount of rolled coins were stolen (2) Wearing a camouflage and dark colored hat. The Marathon Gas Station is located at the intersection of S. Ridgewood Avenue and W. Ocean Avenue. We are proud to announce that Edgewater Police Department has received accreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement. Executive Director for the Commission, Lori Mizell, presented the certificate to Sgt. Soltz, Chief Arcieri, Captain Mahoney and City Manager Barlow this morning.

Southbound lanes of US 1 (South Ridgewood Avenue) are closed at the 1600 block due to lines down across the roadway. If possible, avoid the area.

On October 28, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Edgewater Police Department in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public the opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the Edgewater Police Department lobby located at 135 E. Park Ave. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

This not so upstanding citizen, Jeremy Swartz, generated another arrest for himself from EPD when he stole a generator from a residence that was without power. We took him to jail and returned the generator to the rightful owner. Please continue to call if you see anyone suspicious 386-424-2000.
