This young man was celebrating his birthday at Rotary Park this weekend. The theme of his party was "Police Department". Imagine his surprise when he and his friends got a visit from Sgt. Gaboury and Officer Lupo!

Detective Pollard, Detective Caron and Sergeant Burris visited Edgewater Public School this morning to participate in career day. Our officers look forward to these opportunities to interact with our local students. The children had a great time hearing about all that a career in law enforcement entails. They had some great questions!

On April 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Edgewater Police Department in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public the opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the Edgewater Police Department lobby located at 135 E. Park Ave. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

April 8th- April 14th is National Telecommunicators Week. A big THANK YOU goes out to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers for all you do!! Dispatchers are typically the first point of contact during an emergency. Edgewater PD would like to thank them for all their hard work! Job well done!

Shortly after 10:00 AM today, our officers teamed up with crews from Edgewater Fire Rescue to render aid to two victims of a small aircraft crash. Both victims were transported to Halifax Hospital. The scene has been turned over to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office since the crash scene is outside the city limits of Edgewater.

After placing an order, the offender grabbed the cash tray from the open cash register and fled the restaurant. The offender committed an additional robbery in Holly Hill. EPD arrested Sarah M. Wells on December 21, 2017 for felony animal cruelty. The dog is named Adonis and he is currently receiving veterinarian care. We hope he is able to make a full recovery.

All EPD officers featured in our Christmas series are committed to serving the citizens of Edgewater, but are permitted by EPD command staff to explore offers from Hollywood as they come in. EPD’s officers have been working diligently on the attempt to steal Christmas incident, Case #12-25-2017. Our Detective Division located a hair on scene and the crime lab results are back. It’s the Grinch! And yes, we know he’s a mean one! Rest easy though, EPD officers will find him before he steals Christmas. Thank you to the students of the New Smryna Beach High School Digital Video Production Program for putting together this video documentary of the investigation. Attention all citizens! A mean, green, furry, grumpy, anti-holiday recluse has set his sights on the City of Edgewater and has attempted to steal Christmas! The men and women of EPD responded to City Hall and are currently investigating. Will the citizens of Edgewater be without Christmas? Will EPD solve this heinous crime? Officers Geiger and Koehler joined in on the fun at the # hugs not hate 700+ rock hide/paint event at Rotary Park this morning. Officer Geiger's K-9 partner even got in on the fun!

Chief Arcieri and several officers joined dozens from our community this morning as guest readers at Edgewater Public School. The entire school will be reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio and discussing and sharing across the campus about how kindness matters.
