We are on the countdown... 4 days until The Plunge! Our goal is to raise $2500 for the Special Olympics Georgia, we are half way there! Let's see what can be accomplished in the next few days. Don't forget to come out watch and support some of your local law enforcement officers plunge into the frigid water!

The Acworth Police Department is partnering with surrounding agencies in the Big Pie in the Sky Carnivore Challenge. This Carnivore Challenge involves a team of two consuming an 11 lb. Carnivore Pizza. All monies raised for this Challenge will benefit our very own Horizon League. If you'd like to donate to motivate our Acworth PD team, please contact Cpl. Youlanda D. Officer Irvin was all smiles this morning while spending some time with Mrs. Rincon's class at McCall Primary School! A very special thank you to a sweet young man named Jaden, who invited Officer Irvin to enjoy breakfast with him and all of his friends in the cafeteria!

Officer Chuck Brogden received recognition for solving several entering autos crimes last year. He was named Officer of the Quarter for Q3-2017. Congratulations Ofc. Brogden! Great Police Work!

Acworth case 1801439. On 02/03/2018 at about 17:00 hours, the suspect pictured exited past all points of sale with unpaid merchandise totaling over $500 (Felony) at an Acworth WalMart (3826 Cobb Parkway). On 01/22/2018 at about 13:00 hours, the suspects pictured shoplifted a television and other items exceeding $500 (Felony) at an Acworth WalMart (3826 Cobb Parkway). Ms. Debbie Pike stopped by the Acworth Police Department to deliver some frosties for the officers. Ms. Pike said she was honoring her dad, John Hughes who would often take frozen treats to public safety employees thanking them for their service. Ms. Pike is the owner of Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Kennesaw. Thank you Ms. Pilke for continuing to honor public safety. We appreciate you!

Accidents are already being reported on the interstates, no surprise there... Do you have a teen that is interested in law enforcement? The Acworth Explorers are recruiting! Students must be at least 14 and no older than 21, in the 9th grade or higher and have at least a 2.0 GPA. Interested students can visit the meetings on Tuesday evenings from 6:00p - 8:30p. Recently, we have taken a few reports of mail being stolen from residential mailboxes. Please don’t make it easy for the criminals to locate outgoing mail by raising the red flag on your mailbox. Also, check your mailbox each and every day. Follow up with the recipients who you have mailed something to. As always, report any suspicious behavior! If you suspect you are a victim, please contact us!!!!

The Holbrook had its ground blessing today! Construction is underway for phases 2 and 3 of Dogwood Forest. If you've driven by recently, you'll notice the old Save a lot plaza is no more and will become the home of The Holbrook. Our beautiful city is growing one building at a time!

There is a single car vehicle crash on south bound Cobb Parkway just north of Quick Trip. Traffic will be obstructed south bound for at least another hour. Please avoid this area if possible.

Mayor Tommy Allegood will present the annual State of the City presentation next Thursday, February 1st, 2018 at 11:30 a.m.. The presentation will take place at the monthly Acworth Business Association luncheon.

Did you know.... At the intersection of Logan Road and Cherokee Street your SPLOST dollars will build a 44,000 square foot Community Recreation Center? This is the largest SPLOST project in the City’s history! The Community Center will feature a large gymnasium with an elevated walking track, banquet hall, classrooms, group exercise space, etc. This is a jointly funded SPLOST project between Cobb County and the City of Acworth. We look forward to the ribbon cutting early next year!
