Douglasville Police Department News

Main roads are all passable but still have some slick spots. Side streets and some neighborhoods are still ice covered and dangerous, especially those shaded with trees.

City of Douglasville offices will open on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 12:00 pm City of Douglasville

Douglas County Schools closed Thursday, 1/18/18.

While the sun has melted a small amount of the Connecticut confetti from the roadways, there is still a large amount of Yankee slush and worse, ice, out there. Many roads shaded by trees are still completely ice covered. Once the sun goes down any moisture still on the roads will freeze and make driving treacherous. It's best to only venture out if absolutely necessary.

In case you are wondering, roads are not getting better. But more cars are out driving and getting stuck.

In addition to not driving unless absolutely necessary, please do not steal cars left running at gas stations. Douglas County Sheriff's Office (Georgia) and DPD will still catch you (DCSO K9’s still work in the snow). Also, please don’t leave your cars running at gas stations or in your driveway.

Currently roads in Douglasvile have a layer of ice covered by a layer of snow. We do not expect this to change anytime soon as temps will remain below freezing. Please do not drive unless absolutely necessary. If you do drive and are involved in an accident or become stuck, you can expect it will be a while before anyone gets to you so bring food and a blanket.
