ICYMI: On October 21st, 2017, Atlanta Police Department celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Zone 3 precinct planned for 2375 Metropolitan Parkway. Maj. Jonathan Durant of APD’s Zone 3 said, “Our precinct will be located within the zone, in the Perkerson community, providing better accessibility and service to the citizens of Zone 3. It will also boost the morale of our officers when they come to work at a facility that is designed to make their jobs a little more enjoyable as they deal with the stress from their profession.” #APDProud #CommunityPolicing #GoodNews

APD PROUD: Zone 6 Officer Lisa McGhaw saved a woman from jumping off of the Moreland Avenue overpass along Westbound I-20 on Monday, October 16th, 2017. Officer McGhaw spoke to the woman for nearly an hour on a ledge until she agreed to come to safety. Officer McGhaw said she remained calm, tried to understand the woman’s mindset, and used the Crisis Intervention Training offered to her by the City of Atlanta. #APDCares #PoliceHero #ShowCompassion

SEEKING SUSPECT: Atlanta Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting and armed robbery at the G. Corner Food Mart on Cascade Ave. SW on October 14th, 2017. The suspect shot the store owner and took an undisclosed amount of cash and lottery tickets. SEEKING SUSPECT: Atlanta Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who robbed and carjacked Atlanta City Council candidate Andrea Boone on Sept. 30th, 2017. The incident happened at Boone’s campaign headquarters along Lynhurst Dr. SW. The suspect is described as a light skinned African-American man between 19 to 21 years old, 6’1 in height, and he was wearing a grey hoodie. MISSING PERSON: 27-year-old Sergio Ulysses Collins was last believed to be seen in the area of Spencer Street in Northwest Atlanta on October 14th, 2017. Collins drives a four door white 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Georgia tag RIX7119. APD Detectives have reason to believe Collins maybe injured and in danger.
